I loathe Biden, but I truly don't understand how Trump appeals to anyone.
He's blatantly amoral (but the evangelical Christians and many Catholics love him), he's had everything handed to him and never had to struggle (not at all like working Americans), and he's physically ugly (looks matter in politics, generally). It totally boggles my mind how Trump appeals to anyone. |
He is doing literally nothing. He will not accomplish anything, consistent with his prior administration. But what he isn’t doing is telling people to pretend that their reality isn’t what they are experiencing. He isn’t telling people that crime is down (when people experience a sharp uptick in crime), he isn’t telling them that inflation is down when everybody can compare grocery costs, he isn’t telling people that their daughters should shut up and be happy with lose to biological boys, he isn’t telling people that unconditional support for Israel is bringing peace to the Middle East, he isn’t telling people that just a few more billion dollars will stop the war in Ukraine. He’s got dementia, he is incompetent, he is a malignant narcissist, and genuinely a terrible person. But he is not asking people to ignore their own lived experiences and reality. And that is why he is resonating. |
I agree with some of what you are saying...but crime is down in most places (but sadly not DC) and inflation is down (I just bought 18 eggs for $1.99 when we all remember they were $6 for a dozen at the peak; gas is now under $3/gallon in many places; airfares were definitely cheaper this past holiday season compared to prior two years). Trump also offers unconditional support for Israel, but I don't hear much foreign policy. |
I just came to say the same 😀. It should say “poorly educated”. |
He’s telling me that he actually won the 2020 election. Hes telling me he did a great job handling COVID. Hes telling me he had a great economic record. He’s telling me he has a plan to cut my health care costs. Hes telling me that DEI is the reason for Boeings mess-ups. He’s telling me has plans to cut inflation. Seems like a lot of asking me to ignore my own lived experience and reality. |
There is anplan to achieve this goal. Russians were able to achieve this in 2017 by placing poor uneducated marginalised population in the homes of wealthy people, de-privatised privately held real estates and gave housing to everyone equally. This is going to happen in US too. No one need vacation or second home when we can house several immigrant families in it. No ine need to live in 6,00 sq ft house that can house 5-6 families. |
NP. This is some next-level paranoid stuff—where are you guys getting these crazy ideas? Maybe broaden your media sources a bit. |
Look, I don’t know what to tell you. I am a Democrat who predicted that Trump would win in spring of 2016 because I saw that he was emotionally resonating with people who felt gaslit and unheard by the Democrats. I posted as much in DCUM and was mocked for it back then. Now I see the Democrats making the same mistake here, telling people that they aren’t experiencing what they clearly are experiencing. Trump is an awful, terrible person who is a direct threat to democracy and yet at this point I think he is going to win, unless his dementia becomes too much to hide. It’s extremely depressing. |
Progressives should form their own party and stop hijacking the democrats. Letting Bernie run in the democratic primary was such a fatal mistake. |
SHE IS NOT DEFENDING TRUMP. You are an unfunny goddamned joke! How do you not see this? |
Is railing against that sentiment doing more to secure a Biden win? Jesus Christ. |
Laughable. A little over a year ago Democrats were trying to blame an impending economic hard landing on Jerome Powell 'a GOP appointed chair's (even though Biden re-hired him). Now that the Fed has gotten inflation tamed, Dems try to give Biden credit. Complete insanity, you can't have it both ways. The voters aren't stupid. The Fed is the single biggest reason inflation is coming back down, and Biden is a big reason why inflation went up for so long because of his stupid policies that dumped more money into the economy than was necessary, thereby exacerbating inflation. No one is going to give Biden credit on inflation when it is the Fed and Biden has made it worse. |
What is Joe's plan for a 2nd term? He hasn't told us.
All I have heard him talk about is MAGA this and MAGA that and abortion. What exactly is he running on? |
You are an excellent example of why the Democrats are going to lose, because you have entirely missed the point. Everything you list above, every single item, is in the realm of rhetoric not reality. Trump’s voters don’t believe Trump handled COVID well. They don’t believe he has a great economic plan. They don’t believe all the ridiculous and frankly obviously dementia-driven nonsense that he says. You think his voters actually believe him? My goodness. You have the luxury of parsing out the nonsense that Trump spews and being offended by it because you aren’t particularly impacted by inflation, crime, job losses, potential military action in the Middle East, etc. You can look at Trump and object to his obvious dementia-driven ravings because you aren’t worried about day to day life. Objecting to rhetoric is a luxury that Trump’s voters don’t think they have. And this is just such a cluelessness gap with the Democrats that they are going to sleepwalk into yet another loss to Trump. I find it unbelievable. |
If you seeing the breakdown, many cross party voter go for Nikki. Also in NH, the democratic primary vote do no count this time. |
