Why do rich men seem to heavily prefer very skinny women? Even over a beautiful face?

I like thin women. Blue collar guys like thick women. Why? Who knows.

Probably because that is who available to them. Like attracts like.

I dont think that's true... a lot of these blue collar guys are hot and ripped AF. They have six packs. I have spent time in blue collar communities, and there are plenty of really skinny women running around. But often you will see the hot construction worker type men running around with very curvy women.

Hmm guess that's not the norm everywhere. I don't see a lot of hot construction workers ever really. Unless we have wildly different ideas of hotness.

I'm from DC originally so it was definitely a bit of a surprise. A lot of those blue collar men down south are HOT AF and I was not mentally prepared. They have insane muscular structure from working outside all day (I dont know if all of them are construction workers or what theyre all doing, just that it appears to be blue collar). Definitely not your DC wonks!

Well, I live out west and this is not remotely true. Guess it's a souther thing.

It wasn't stated up front, it was presented as fact until you followed up. I stand by what I said, like attract likes because that's what I see if we're going off our lived experiences.

I haven't spent much time in blue collar communities on the west coast, so I'll have to take your word for it on being an expert. But I stand by my experiences and what I saw with my own two eyes. You can be mad about it allllll day long, no one cares.

This thread is basically a way for people to hate on thin people. Fat people can’t conceive of a world where thin women aren’t miserable. Where they are just naturally thin or do a good job taking care of themselves without some disorder. You can’t conceive that thin, happy women exist. They must be miserable! (Why? Oh right, because you are miserable.)

Jeff, if this were reversed and there were all this bigoted fat bashing, this thread would get shut down in a hot minute. Why don’t all you sad people go for a walk?

How is anyone "bashing" thin people? The OP just observed a phenomenon and asked a question about it. People have been sharing their opinions on either side, and it's pretty civil. Why does this question bother you?

"Maybe, but the older thin women seem exceptionally bitter and miserable. They don’t just hate fat. They hate everything."

"Sounds really awful to be a woman who has to have a major focus on body maintenance in their 40s and 50s or else face divorce/ being switched out for a newer model."

This one is especially a doozy:
"They are also, bar none, the collectively most miserable old people. Their anger and bitterness is overwhelming when you talk with them. They are absolutely disgusted by fat, but also by pretty much everything else in life."

"...their taste everything eat nothing, G&T diets."

"...she is not sure she’s ever met a genuinely happy thin older woman. ... She almost thinks it is physiological, like a lifetime spent watching food intake turns into permanent anhedonia and an inability to love."

Someone who is angry it's hard for herself to stay thin decides all thin women are miserable like she is. She also conflates "not having enough calories" with "being thin", as though people who aren't fat are automatically starving themselves.
"As someone who used to be extremely thin, I think it does make you miserable. When you dont have enough calories, your body starts literally taking fat from the brain. It's not to say anyone has to be overweight, but I think a normal weight might be healthier. Whatever you have to do to maintain such a low body fat, seems to make people kind of miserable."

Okay. Someone talking about their experience between thin and struggling with depression at the time, or someone telling an anecdote about their friend who worked in a nursing home, is not "bashing thin people". Truly, if you're going to be these sensitive, you need to get off DCUM. Like... immediately. And maybe... go outside and touch grass, while you're at it!

Would you say this if PP quoted as many anti-fat posts as this? Of course not.

Read the Minnesota starvation experiment. All of these things (finding normal size people disgusting, depression, apathy, etc) are normal psychological reactions to calorie restriction. It’s not surprising that people have observed them in themselves and others.

Also, you have to imagine that nearly every fat person has gone through week/months/years where they have calorie restricted. People are generalizing their own experiences.

That makes so much sense. I follow an influencer who recently went on a "weight loss journey" via using the drug Ozempic. They were, kudos to them, very open about this, about how they don't have diabetes or anything but are taking it for aesthetic reasons.

And while I usually like this person and have been totally supportive of their decision to lose weight for whatever reason, aesthetic, medical, whatever... it's been shocking to me because they will now go on rants about anyone who is normal sized, let alone larger. Insulting the bodies of normal sized women and saying things like "everyone wants to be thin". It's honestly been very confusing for me because I usually like them, and they just seem so decisive in their appraisal of "normal sized bodies are gross", which is odd to me. Like obviously, everyone is allowed to have their preference, find WHOEVER attractive. But it's strange to me that she seems genuinely disgusted by just a normal BMI woman- like genuinely disgusted. It would make sense if something pathological is at play.

Also, this person did make a video sobbing about how miserable they've been lately and how the weight loss didnt change their happiness. Anyway, I'll have to look up the starvation experiment...

I'm so sorry, do you know how to read? Did you miss the part where I said BLUE COLLAR? Do you know what words mean?

Also, i really dont listen to country music (you seem much more aware of the lower class world than I am) so I have no way of knowing if these cherry picked images are the norm or not.

Please have your mental meltdown in another thread, between this and begging Jeff to remove it, it's not making a good case for your side.

Um, nobody is mad. Different experiences lead to different conclusions which is exactly what we're both saying. We agree, so calm down.

Not surprising that any wealthy men would like skinny, pretty blondes- but this is not a realistic cross-section of working class men. The good ‘ol boy Maga country persona is not exactly known for embracing diversity.

That's probably why I specified the south.... lmao.

IRT to blue collar liking fat or curvy, here are the famous country music stars, wives of gfs, notice anything?

Just wondering why this is. Is it a generational thing, since "thin was in" for boomers and it's mostly boomers and Xers with the wealth at this point? Status symbol? The men just like it without any outside influence from society? Any thoughts?

I like thin women. Blue collar guys like thick women. Why? Who knows.

Probably because that is who available to them. Like attracts like.

I dont think that's true... a lot of these blue collar guys are hot and ripped AF. They have six packs. I have spent time in blue collar communities, and there are plenty of really skinny women running around. But often you will see the hot construction worker type men running around with very curvy women.

Not surprising that any wealthy men would like skinny, pretty blondes- but this is not a realistic cross-section of working class men. The good ‘ol boy Maga country persona is not exactly known for embracing diversity.

Hmm guess that's not the norm everywhere. I don't see a lot of hot construction workers ever really. Unless we have wildly different ideas of hotness.

That settles it. Rich men prefer plus sized women. I guess OP had it all wrong.
