Taylor Swift is awful (and her music isn't even very good)

OK, I will: Patsy Cline. Crazy, Walkin' after midnight.

Probably one reason Swift annoys me so much is that I know a lot of people who really like her, since I'm squarely in her target demo, and I simply do not get the appeal and also find her approach really cynical and not particularly authentic. I simply do not buy the idea that Taylor Swift, the tall skinny famous rich white lady, is some kind of beleaguered underdog. It's odd.

Why are you so obsessed? It’s a little weird, you have to recognize that. I don’t even love TS, and I find your OP really bizarre.

Sharing an opinion =/= obsession. Stop pathologizing every thing people do.

NP here. How many times have you created a random thread on this forum to rant about something other people like but you don't, yet also doesn't really matter? I have not done that so I think its weird. Like, I don't like popcorn. Many other people do. I don't need a thread about it.

DP. Agree with this. I do not like Taylor Swift but I think OP is really weird and yes, obsessed.

Not an equivalent comparison because Patsy Cline was a singer, not a songwriter as well.

Given the overwhelming number of posts here attacking OP, seems like the Swifties are the ones that are really weird and obsessed.

I’ve been posting a lot on this thread and would consider myself a casual Taylor Swift fan at best.

Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Miranda Lambert.

Sounds like you should examine that obsession.

I am not a Taylor Swift fan and don’t really listen to her music but pay attention enough to goings on in the world to know that she get far more than her fair share of abuse. It’s kind of amazing she still does anything in public.

You put Miranda Lambert in the same list as Joni Mitchell and James Taylor?!

Okay, just the female singer/songwriters:
Johnette Napolitino,
Lauren Hill,
Grace Slick,
Billie Holiday,
Kate Bush,
Allison Krauss,
Dolly Parton,
Amy Winehouse,
Missy Elliot,
Adele

Taylor Swift is okay, but she just scrapes by compared to many great female singer/songwriters

Forgot Tracy Chapman?

I’m not sure that all of those women wrote songs.

This reminds me of the scene in the Big Lebowski where he gets thrown out of the cab for saying "I hate the f__in Eagles."
