You should know that Madonna, like many divas, did not write much of her music.

For example, Like a Virgin was chosen for her by execs at Warner Bros Records. She wrote Like a Prayer with a professional songwriter and producer.

I personally don’t think it makes Madonna less of a performer, but it’s a bit disingenuous to say it’s “her music” when she didn’t write it, or had a lot of help writing it.

OP here and I'd just like to say I'm not an incel. I'm a white lady in my 30s who is married and has a daughter. Probably one reason Swift annoys me so much is that I know a lot of people who really like her, since I'm squarely in her target demo, and I simply do not get the appeal and also find her approach really cynical and not particularly authentic. I simply do not buy the idea that Taylor Swift, the tall skinny famous rich white lady, is some kind of beleaguered underdog. It's odd.

NP here. How many times have you created a random thread on this forum to rant about something other people like but you don't, yet also doesn't really matter? I have not done that so I think its weird. Like, I don't like popcorn. Many other people do. I don't need a thread about it.

Absolutely true. They almost certainly know next to nothing about music.

I’m a musician and most musicians I know enjoyed the two albums she put out during the pandemic. They had good songwriting on them and her collaboration with The National was pretty cool. Frankly I think the fact that Aaron and Bryce Dessner worked with her says a lot about her musical abilities. They’re pretty serious guys, from a musical standpoint.
