So is stockpiling meds or foods that have expirations dates for something irrational like economic shutdowns or China or the US.

What do emerging markets or undeveloped countries who do have $100 per carton speciality formula fee their babies?

Those babies die.

+1

Apparently American babies who are not aborted are expendable to dcum.

Even wanted babies with loving parents are on the chopping block to dcum. It’s sick.

This is the politics forum. I still don’t fully understand why it’s in this forum, because there is not a political solution to this problem.

They are blaming Biden, that's why. This time for not being socialist in this one situation. Apparently, also, they think he can just nod his head and wiggle his nose and conjure up baby formula out of thin air.

Maybe those two babies should have not died while on that formula causing a recall.

Check the comorbidities or life expectancy of said severe medical issue

Rampant since the pandemic or in general?

Rampant since shutdowns.

When there is only one manufacturer, there is a monopoly and will than manufacturer fails, its an issue. Capitalism doesn't handle these situations well.

Capitalism is the only reason your thyroid medication exists in the first place.

But I agree there should be limits.

That is not true. Non-profit research universities are actually responsible. So is the free sharing of scientific knowledge. Profit and capitalism only burdens scientific discovery with patents, secrecy and manipulation in the name of profit.

Lol.

Are you saying that if the government manufacture baby formula they wouldn’t have SHUTDOWN any plants or factories during Covid shutdowns for 12-24 mos? And they would have never exported anything or never had any supply chain issues? Club Fed is still not in person working.

Not LOLing but remedial economics classes are practically free at taxpayer subsidized Community Colleges. try one!

WSJ ran an article yesterday. Just more supply chain issues due to previous govt shutdowns plus the plant investigation. 30-40% understocked, 3 bins per purchaser, flying back supply from Europe, running plants 7 days a week now, etc.

When there is a virtual monopoly on something people are dependent on, this is what happens.

On the "good old days" those babies would just be dead.

When demand is minuscule, customers exist for 1-2 years only, and countries don’t shut down and tell everyone to stay home, yes there can be one supplier in each region.

If there is a monopoly because there isn't excessive profit in the product in a totally capitalist society, and then there is a health issue with the product, there are going to be consequences.

Again, in the "good old days"very few would have cared if some babies die or a while bunch of people die from disease, because there was almost nothing they could do about it.

I read that and they only mentioned the one brand someone’s child needed. I googled it and Walmart on line was out of it, but suggested another brand. Maybe doctors can come up with a list of comparable brands and make a website. WM listed all the ingredients. The formulas are expensive though, like $177 for three cans of powder. These articles certainly should list the brands people need. If there were a be on the lookout list, I’d donate some if I found it locally. Maybe food banks could organize formula drives.

The cause of the “supply chain issues” was Abbott’s profit-motivated failure to maintain a clean plant. This is criminal.

They found some germ in or around the factory, not on the equipment, not on the product, not in the product.

No idea on sickness or death if the unhealthy babies who also had formula. Did autopsies show it was that germ that caused or or something off with the formula caused it?

Anyhow, govt did what govt does best, doesn’t think ahead and just shut it down.
