Disagree. Youngkin did not win Fairfax — not even close. |
In a democracy, women have the right to feel safe and to be protected. Furthermore, when a crime against them was committed, for justice to prevail. Governor Youngqin’s action was based on the mishandling of sexual assaults against students (girls) at school grounds and the cover up that followed by the LCPS School Board and Superintendent. Women advocates, parents, school staff, students, and other members of the community who stand in support of female students’ safety at schools - regardless of what their political affiliation is - do support this measure. This is a safety and security issue, not a partisan one; and to label it as such, one must either not be a parent themselves, or if they are, their political stance overrides their parental obligation to protect their children. |
Youngkin changed the election cycle for Loudoun SB on his own whim. How is this okay? And if it is, can we change the election date for Governor, too? |
“Safety and security” along with meddling with elections sure sounds like authoritarianism to me. |
Wrong. They are processes for addressing these issues and he did not follow them. Due process you know... Try again to get your agenda going. |
Then remove the school board members. That's what women do. Not cower behind a man who is improperly using his position. But since APS and LCPS kicked FCPS out of the Virginia Schools Forum, I'm not sure why they are here posting in defense of Youngkin's maneuver. Go congratulate yourselves on your win on the VA Schools Forum. |
It turns out the moderate is actually authoritarian |
Rest assured that due process is on the works. Meanwhile, he is giving parents the chance to select a new school board since the current one will be too busy involved in criminal litigation - if it isn’t already. And, no political agenda here, except to advocate for women’s rights (young girls in this case) to safety and equality under the law. |
How nice of him! Are you a troll? Or insane? |
I want a new election for Governor. |
I can't get past your first response - they were overwhelming closed for longer in blue areas - so I can't read anything else you say since you're so wrong on the first one. |
Yep. Once both conservatives and the NAACP hate you, it’s over before it starts. The “first to close schools” thing is a silly Open FCPS talking point. Remember March 2020? No one knew what we were dealing with, the photos out of China were awful, urban centers like NYC were being decimated, we didn’t know kids aren’t as effected, there were no tests and no PCP. And if we had stayed open, teachers, at least, would have died. And China wasn’t being open about COVID. Closing schools spring of 2020 to get a handle on the virus and impose mitigation was the right call. At the time, it was not at all controversial. I don’t think any schools stayed open. My much bigger question is whether she got school open in fall 2020 and what model she used. That’s what’s important. |
[b]FTFY |
This is fake news. He put it in a bill that elected representatives need to vote for. Things can be changed and this is how you do it - through bills and laws that elected representatives vote on. If you want to know what I think is veering on authoritarian - it's booster requirements being allowed in this country - for my 12 year old son who is fully vaccinated plus has had covid. |
Feel free to lobby for a new bill on how often the Gov is elected. |
