There are multiple violent acts the past few months. They have been posted here and in other places. Do we really need to list them out. MCPS is not transparent with these things. But, please find us the evidence numbers are down and prove it with a citation. |
Everything has to go through 911 now under the new MOU. So when you look up your kid's schools in open data montgomery, you can see for yourself what the cops are being called to the school for. At my kid's high school there are a ton of threats, harassment, sex offenses, and welfare checks. |
Do you keep up with things? Clearly not. |
DP. What's your evidence that the numbers are up? |
The news! OMG! |
No, that's not evidence that the numbers are up. That's just evidence that incidents are happening. But incidents happened before, too. |
We are concerned parents here with kids in middle schools and high schools. Our children's lives matter - and that includes black and brown kids who form the majority in the schools that my kids go to. Please don't make this some silly activist nonsense. There are fight video series being put up on Instagram from a schools I know. Older immigrant kids beating up kids in middle schools and can't be thrown out. Lockdowns. Now you can get into an academic exercise and say they were more/less than before esp if you don't have a kid in the schools. As parents, we want to protect our kids. so please get out of here if your concern is not about kids but only about winning some useless arguments. |
The questions being discussed are: 1. Has the number of violent incidents increased since SROs were removed from schools? 2. If the number of violent incidents has increased, was this caused by removal of the SROs from schools? 3. Would putting the SROs back in schools (per the thread title) reduce the number of violent incidents? So, let's start with answering the first question. |
Such glibness. Do you have evidence that numbers are down? Or should we just wait till your kids get hurt? Oh wait...you have no kids in the system. |
You tell us |
1) No evidence has been provided to support this 2) Since 1 was never established this is moot 3) No since SRO were removed they've been doing a fine job handling these incidents which demonstrates they are unnecessary |
Do you mean the posts they created to hype incidents that happen every year? |
Do you have evidence the numbers are up? Or, if not, what is your reason for wanting MCPS to put the SROs back in schools? |
|
It should get much more attention, that the Michigan school shooter was evaluated by social workers at school and found not to be a threat, and subsequently released back into the school where he murdered children.
We can not let this "counselors not sros" BS continue. "Upon the parents' arrival, the school counselors asked the student "specific probing questions" about his potential for self-harm or harm toward others, Throne said. The answers he provided "led counselors to again conclude he did not intend on committing either self-harm or harm to others," according to the letter." - cnn |
This stuff happens every year. It just happens there's a poster trying to draw attention to it because of the SRO agenda. It isn't anything new, and these indicdents were handled perfectly without SROs. |
