If it was a suicide, it’s like bird box-level impulsivity. Who kills themselves midway through eating a fruit salad? Starting on antidepressants can cause suicidal behavior but multiple stab wounds is a freakish way to do it.
It kind of reminds me of the young woman who killed herself while nude in her boyfriend’s mansion. There were other bizarre details that made it seem like a homicide, like a message on the wall saying “you let her down” or something to that effect. I think she was actually mentally ill and did it all herself but yikes, how creepy. |

So...interesting note for those who watched the Oxygen documentary, which seemed to soft-pedal the 'murder' aspect of this case and lean more toward a 'suicide' explanation (nb: I have not watched it; only basing this on reviews I read here).

So I just came across this for the first time and wow. Just wow. I don't know what combination of incompetence and/or corruption was involved, but there are just so many red flags.
1. Common sense and statistics. Women who attempt to take their own lives rarely use knives. In general, knives are only used in ~1% of cases, because it's extremely painful and hard to follow through. With women, it's way less than 1%. 4. 2. There is zero proof the fiancee kicked in the door, just his own word. 3. Some of the wounds are impossible to have been self inflicted based on location. And even the wounds that could have been self inflicted are also impossible unless she was on something Medetomidine which clearly she wasn't or would have been in toxicology report. 4. The fiancees family is incredibly well connected in PA and was on scene almost immediately. He made a phone call to his uncle before calling 911 and before he ostensibly kicked in the door to their apartment. And yet his uncle for some reason shows up on scene after he kicks in the door in. How did he know to rush to the scene from a phone call the fiancee placed ostensibly before he knew something was wrong? https://gavinfish.com/cases/ellen-greenberg/ There is so much more but this case reeks to high heaven. Also hilarious and disturbing that quite possibly Sam Goldberg and/or his family are commenting here and in other locations fabricating stories of mental illness. Generally just disturbing, especially because they bungled the case so badly that it's unlikely this poor young woman and her family will ever receive the justice she deserves. |

Samuel Goldberg is NBC Sports Producer Only documentary on this murder pushing the suicide angle is from Oxygen, an NBC company. Sure gets my noggin joggin. |

Does anybody really think she stabbed herself like that a couple dozen times?
Of course he killed her. He was enraged when she wouldn’t let him back into the apartment after he went to the gym following their quarrel. He broke in, murdered her in a rage, then got busy covering it up with the help of family and friends in high places. The Greenbergs are unlikely to ever get justice for Ellen, given the mess made by law enforcement at all levels. This is one true crime case that has haunted me. ~ former prosecutor |

Suicide never makes rational sense, it's an irrational act born of mental illness. But this suicide is NOT comparable to the claims that Ellen's death was a suicide, because this woman slashed her throat, arms and chest. That's the area of the body that is typically assaulted by suicidal people who use a knife. It is not even close to typical for a suicidal person to stab themselves repeatedly in the back of the head and neck. |
