Only if he did something wrong. An innocent person would provide police and the family with the information they needed.

- and the police would charge the boyfriend anyway, and try to put an innocent man in jail.

This is how it works. Their job is to win convictions, not to determine actual guilt.

You can’t possibly be this naive, can you? The kid is exercising his rights and pursuing the wisest strategy for avoiding a long prison sentence for something he may, or may not, have done.

No, they would NOT charge the boyfriend anyway. That's not how it works. You can't possibly be this naive, can you?

Speaking as someone who has experienced emotional and psychological abuse and the insidious nature of it, as well as how abusers are well-versed at making the other person feel or look "crazy/crazier", these reports raised a lot of red flags in my mind when it comes to Brian.

Yeah but what about her? The report says she started it by slapping Brian. I think they're both mentally unstable and it's unfortunate they weren't taking medication.

Initial comments from Websleuths on the video:

Right at 2:59 Gabby begins explaining to the officer that she's trying to get a travel blog website going and that she's stressed out from working on a video and "...he doesn't really believe I can do any of it..." So yes, they were indeed trying to get a social media gig going and it sounds (as I had suggested Monday) it's a lot harder than people think it is and can be incredibly stressful especially when you're making it on the road. It also sounds like Brian was not supportive of it and perhaps critical.

Just watching this now, and seeing all kinds of red flags, but one that sticks out is when the officer walks back over to Brian, and asks if he or Gabby are on any medication. He replies, "she's crazy," and laughs and waves his hands, like he's just told a hilarious joke to the officers. At 17:05.

He doesn't believe in what she is doing, and he stresses her out. Those are Gabby's words. So terribly sad that this beautiful young girl chose the WRONG person for her, to travel across country. She needed someone who didn't belittle her and criticize the one thing she wanted to do, the blog. She needed someone who wanted to do the same thing. Prayers, prayers, prayers. I can't listen to him.

Just watched the full hour body cam. Incredibly disturbing. She is so scared and innocent and the cops make him the victim. Lots of tropes about “crazy female” who was “clawing at him” with her nails. Meanwhile he presents as a choir boy and joking around with officers the entire time. I cannot believe they left her alone and sent him to a hotel. As a dad to a little girl I am sick. IMO Brian displays the ability to convince the officers he is the good guy while she takes the fall and the charges.

It’s totally her fault that he likely brutally murdered her and disposed of her in a fun-filled cross-country journey, and is now stonewalling her parents. Totally think she should be taking responsibility post-mortem. Do you have a blog or site you can share where you post your other insights? I’d love to add a follow.

He's a scumbag.....but he's doing the "smart" thing if he's trying to avoid prosecution and conviction. He's exercising the full extent of his rights. The police will need to do all the work to build a case and that's really hard to do without a body.

There is no requirement to ever talk to the police, the FBI, Congress, etc. The only time you have to talk is when compelled by the courts. And even then, you can claim the 5th Amendment or simply answer "I do not recall."

Watch some of the videos of Donald Trump in legal depositions. He's actually really smart and a master at not providing any information to opposing attorneys. He pretty much always answers "I do not recall" to any question that may open himself to liability or other lines of questioning. If you stonewall at every turn, you can very likely get away with whatever you did.

They released the body camera footage of the cops interviewing the couple post-conflict. The LEO says they were doing 45 MPH in a 15 MPH area and driving under intoxication. The boyfriend was the one driving and she was crying before the cop even got there. Her words were extremely rushed and disconnected. She was jumping from subject to subject like she was high.

I didn't watch the whole thing because its an hour long but I wonder if she told her parents about this incident?

Case solved by the arm chair detective!

Confirms the concept of many mentally ill people in prison which is where he will end up.

I didn't watch the whole video, just skipped through it. Why does he get the comfy motel but she doesn't? At the end officer recommends a place where she can shower up for $5. Why didn't he put her in a hotel too? Especially after she tells him that she doesn't usually drive the van, and she appears to be nervous about driving on her own. I wish at this time she called her mom and told her what was going on. Then made plans to just come back home.

THIS. ALL OF THE ABOVE.

I am the PP who read the police reports and posted that as someone who has experienced that type of abuse, those police reports were full of red flags about Brian. This video confirms it. And yes, most police officers are ill-equipped to see what is REALLY going on. That video is horrible to watch. Brian is a sociopath and I hope the investigative work on this case brings justice for Gabby and her family. Just horrendous. I cannot imagine being her parents and watching that; sickening to see her so distraught and sickening to watch his performance.

Yes, that's (non white) parenting 101. Any police interaction, including so called routine traffic stops, you must check in with your family. You must call your parents asap

Anyone who's dealt with a domestic abuse situation can recognize right away what's going on here. This is really hard to watch, knowing what we know now.

After watching the video, I feel like it's two people who have spent entirely too much time together on the road. And they're just sick of each other at this point. But in the name of social media and YouTube they felt the need to carry on. It's a cautionary tale for others. The van life is not this care-free fun lifestyle.

They only started the van scenario in June 2021 of this year. Sounds like neither thought it through. She wanted to start a juice bar or something -- how does that equate to live in a van and travel to national parks?
