Biden's VP?

I would love to see Deval Patrick (former Governor of Massachusetts and super smart) on the ticket

Deval Patrick is 63, and if he wanted a future in politics it wasn’t super smart to head immediately to Bain Capital. Also his Presidential campaign was super strange.

Then you should work to get more black females elected as governors and senators so that there is a larger bench to choose from next time. We haven’t even had a female VP of any color, the insistence on a specific color for this specific election is boggling to me.

The Black community handpicked Joe Biden. Why didn't they support Kamala Harris?

She dropped out early, before any of the primaries where AA's were a large percentage of voters.

They didn't support her in any of the early polling either.

Because some folks thought she was wasn't black enough. We are our own worst enemy.

The analysis I've heard is the opposite - that black voters' top priority was getting Trump out, and they were looking for the safest nominee to achieving that end. They thought white Americans would be more likely to vote for Biden than for a black candidate. (Not to mention that Biden has decades of building relationships in black communities, so he's a known factor, not a hypothetical.)

The Kamala the Cop narrative didn't help either.

I would feel much better if he were the nominee, don't get why he hesitated to run.

The CBC didn't endorse Shirley Chisholm, either. There is some deep misogyny in the US - and the AA community is not immune from it.

For sure. There was an article this week about Trump's appeal to black men. This isn't the one I'm thinking of but similar: https://www.thedailybeast.com/heres-what-trumps-black-male-supporters-say-they-see-in-him

No. Klobuchar is the sensible choice. From there, fill key roles/cabinet with equally strong picks and experience in specialized roles.

Please envision the VP as president. This is not a far fetched scenario. Who would you choose? Put identity politics away. No one disputes filling the jar with skittles of every color and orientation. Taste the rainbow. We have a country to fix.

Warren.

Warren has been discussed frequently in the past 110 pages. There are many arguments against Warren. Go back and read those to get the many arguments against Warren that have already been made.

Additionally, it is questionable if she would add votes. While she adds some progressive votes, she will lose a lot of midwest and minority votes. She doesn't appeal to those demographics in large numbers. She will lose a lot of moderates and independents in swing states which, like 2016, is where the decision will be made. There are about 22 states that are pretty much guaranteed to vote red. There are 15 states are pretty much guaranteed to vote blue. There are 13 states that are reasonably considered to be in play. Unfortunately, Warren doesn't add much in those 13 states to what Biden already brings. Additional support by progressive liberals in staunchly blue states, does not really help the ticket at all, and that's where Warren plays best, in the urban and suburban white vote in solidly blue states.

No. He is not eligible to be president. And, everyone knows that whoever Biden picks has to be ready to pick up that mantle.

Barack Obama has served 8 years and can only serve 2 additional years. He cannot run for VPOTUS where he could be required to serve for up to four years. The only way that Barack Obama could get in again is if the VPOTUS office were vacated with less than 2 years left in their term, he could be nominated as VPOTUS by the sitting POTUS and be approved by both houses of Congress. If that were to happen, he could become VPOTUS and then if the POTUS were to vacate their office, he could become POTUS again.

Whitmer for all reasons stated. And she will stand up to trumps bullying.

I don't think he could serve as Veep at all. Pretty sure that Veep has to be eligible to be president. I understand what you are trying to say, but I don't think that flies legally.

It was code for “Berners thought she was their biggest competition early on.”

I think Joe will appeal to the midwest, and I like Warren for the progressives. Plus she is a woman (which I think he has committed to).

Don't like Harris. Could live with Kloubachar...but she seems to lack confidence or something. Perhaps from her family of origin story.

I like Stacey Abrams, but she is somewhat untested. Plus I think she would scare of moderate Republicans.

I would think this is every Democrat’s goal, but if you read above, some people don’t seem to care if trump wins again. They won’t vote unless a black person is nominated.

Failing to pick an African American will be a repudiation of black lives matter.

Biden is already getting shaky on us with his position on funding for police.

Ball in his court. What is Biden about?

He cannot be elected to a 4 year term. But he can be appointed to a term for less than 2 years. Eligibility for VPOTUS includes eligiblity to serve as POTUS. So as long as it is for less than 2 years, he is eligible. The only way he could serve as VPOTUS or POTUS at this point for less than 2 years was if more than 2 years into a term, the VPOTUS office was vacated, he could be appointed to that office. Then if the POTUS office became vacant, he could ascend back to the presidency. This is essentially how Gerald Ford became the only president in history who was not elected to either the POTUS or VPOTUS office.

But it only works is if there is less than 2 years of the current term of office for both POTUS and VPOTUS. Go and read how Ford became president.
