There have been people that post about their experiences. But Mr play by age quickly spams them until their post gets pushed off the page.

They seem to be leaning to play with their grade.

Ironically the decision had nothing to do with playing in college. The parent just thought it was weird that clubs would want their August birthday kid to play on a team with kids a grade younger in school
Lots of rules can seem weird when you are not privy to how to run things or all the background issues. But once someone in the know points out why age dates are what the rules are based on and grade doesn't matter, then smart folks get it.

Based on what clubs have stated, could be tough to find a club willing to let a kid play up an age group.

No the issue is the parent thought it was weird for a club to put their kid on a team with players a grade younger in school. Thinking something is weird has nothing to do with how a rule is implemented.

The whole reason for changing from BY to SY is so more players can play on teams with other players in their grade at school. Except for young Aug birthdays instead of screwing them by making them play up in BY they get screwed by playing down a grade in SY. It's just dumb.

Highly doubt.

Multiple clubs have specifically asked parents with Aug birthdays to make the club know if their kid is a grade up in school ASAP.

Wonder why they'd want to know 🤔 that?

At least it isn't your kid so it doesn't matter to you. They can probably play on a muni league because these are often by grade.

Arlingtons BY to SY faq covers Aug birthdays. They say grade in school can play a factor in team placement. They dont specifically ask parents to let then know if an August birthday is a grade up. (other clubs do) But its implied if grade in school is part of the decision process.

Wasn't it play on age like 15 clubs to one club saying they lean grade over age? And add Coppermine, "We prefer players continue to play in the appropriate age group. " https://www.copperminesoccer.com/soccer-age-group-changes-for-the-2026-2027-season

That comment has nothing to do with Young Aug Bithdays that are a grade older in school. Its just a general statement for everyone.

Why are people saying "a grade older" or "grade younger"
Isn't it grade higher or grade lower?

Kids born the same year 1 month apart are in different grades

Here's and example.

An August birthday can be in 8th or 9th grade depending on their school district.

Ok, so no teams are harassing August born kids like you say. Nothing implied here, "School grade may be considered as part of the evaluation, but the decision to allow a player to play up is ultimately based on technical criteria including the player’s skill, maturity, and readiness for the older age group."

It has everything to do with playing on age for all months. Unless English isn't your first language, that statement couldn't be more clear.

How will they know each players grade without "harassing" or more likely asking the player or their parents?

That's what implied means if players grade in school is part of roster decisions.

Some kids are trying to stay with current teams, teams aren't forcing kids to play up (and are actively discouraging it.)

You misread everything into it becoming your made up issue.
