This sounds really on target. Leagues and teams must create guidance for this. Play on age and if you are good enough, play up. Wait, my bad, they are already doing this and have always done this. |
AI just translated your comment as "Please play rec because I am trying to helicopter the rules so my Sept girl is the oldest and that August girl that is better and plays her position is banished." |
Clubs typically offer a higher level, especially with friends they've played with since they were small, where it's either that or nothing (maybe HS). |
Its so obvious that you enjoy responding to yourself. Playing on grade is how you get recruited for college. |
The vast majority don't go on to play college. Most play HS, at least. And all the money isn't necessarily for a scholarship. It's for playing a sport they love, the connections they built and the life lessons from the wins/losses and discipline learned. College, if it becomes an option and a worthy goal if desired, should only be considered gravy. |
Unless you can get recruited by playing on age
|
Too stupid. Tell that to Jan-Aug kids now playing downin BY or international kids. You making crap up to give your DD a leg up again. |
You cant play down in BY stupid. |
I've never seen a 'U9th Grade' |
And you can't play down in SY. You lose. |
Idk, the whole bill for soccer is about the cost of one year of private school or 2 years of daycare. Can seem like a bargain to many. |
| Wish we could just hear what is all actually happening around to people, instead of the same argument over and over and over and over and over and over ... |
Probabaly true but even then clubs will dangle access to top schools on top of scholorships. Whatever dream works to keep players and parents on the hook. |
There have been people that post about their experiences. But Mr play by age quickly spams them until their post gets pushed off the page. They seem to be leaning to play with their grade. |
Ironically the decision had nothing to do with playing in college. The parent just thought it was weird that clubs would want their August birthday kid to play on a team with kids a grade younger in school |
