There have been people that post about their experiences. But Mr play by age quickly spams them until their post gets pushed off the page.

They seem to be leaning to play with their grade.
Wasn't it play on age like 15 clubs to one club saying they lean grade over age? And add Coppermine, "We prefer players continue to play in the appropriate age group. " https://www.copperminesoccer.com/soccer-age-group-changes-for-the-2026-2027-season

That comment has nothing to do with Young Aug Bithdays that are a grade older in school. Its just a general statement for everyone.

Why are people saying "a grade older" or "grade younger"
Isn't it grade higher or grade lower?

Kids born the same year 1 month apart are in different grades

Here's and example.

An August birthday can be in 8th or 9th grade depending on their school district.

Hence the reason to use the month/year

Is your reason to make some players unrecruitable for college and for teams 8th grade year some of the players will play HS for 3 months?

Of course everyone eligible is of course able to be recruited if they have the talent and put the time in to find the right school. You have attack record of being wrong and an inability to make judgments based on facts and figures.Your fear mongering on an anonymous website is pointless.

The grade then doesn't make you older or younger
The month/year does

In BY trapped players are playing up a level.

This is very different from Aug birthdays playing down a level in SY.

100% the current system is an advantage to the trapped players vs the new cut off dates, which is worse for them.

It would be mandating that Aug and younger birthdays play with their grade.

This is a very small percentage of the players. I would guess under 5%.

I'm watching this in real-time, as people struggle with what they should do. It's more than 5% at my club.

Yep, I know of several in this situation at my kids club as well. Playing up with their grade seems to be where the parents are leaning.
I wonder how many are going to change their tune based on tryouts and when they realize that their playing time will be significantly cut.

It also depends on if they see playing in college as a realistic option.

Sometimes college isn't on the table even when it's realistic. Teenagers have all sorts of different reasons for playing and reasons why they'd want to be on a certain team.

So obviously the logical thing to do is put young August birthdays on a team with players a grade younger than they are in school. This way they wont have to worry about playing in college because recruiters will ignore them because they're playing down a grade. Totally makes sense.
If you really want that August girl off you girl's team so bad your only solution is to go to the B team. I am sure the A team will give you a big send off.

Playing on age is everyone's right.

Its so obvious that you enjoy responding to yourself.

Playing on grade is how you get recruited for college.
Too stupid. Tell that to Jan-Aug kids now playing downin BY or international kids. You making crap up to give your DD a leg up again.

You cant play down in BY stupid.

By playing with lower grades you do (which is how Aug. guy defines it)

Not what I'm seeing at my club. I'm seeing some who want to, based on being on the team forever AND others wanting to play on age because the chance to get before 100 scouts vs. 5 at showcases. Whether the club indulges either is yet to be seen BUT this is good they can do either, because that's what individuals may need.
