Since the Indian ocean is so heavily traveled by these freight ships, why is no one having them call in if they spot any debris?

They probably haven't seen any debris. I got the sense from the NY Times that that particular region isn't very well trafficked, and anyway the ocean is enormous. The ocean is deep. There are currents.

The news is out there anyway so it's not like they can hide anything. We have the internet. If it's in the news here, anyone can access it.

My gut tells me the "debris" will have nothing to do with the plane. I am seriously going to need an intervention if this mystery doesn't get solved soon. I feel better reading I'm not the only one. To the 2:00am person-if I woke in the middle of the night, I'd check too.

Take the "satalite photos" for example. See how crappy they are?

Does anyone really believe the resolution has decreased since then? No - logice dictates its only improved. Yet the photos shown are increadibly poor resolution. And Malaysia? They have repeatedly refused Interpol's offers of assistance. Flat out refused. That, and the many instances of incompetance, suggest they are not sharing information with anyone and are acting in a very paranoid manner (with little regard to the anquish of the families of the victims).

Russia? They probably have the 3rd best techology behind the U.S. and Western Europe as far as satalites, aircraft, assets. But they've contributed nothing to the effort. Zilch. Typical of them.

The way they're handling the families is really something - just horrible. Dragging that poor woman out of the press conference? That was a revoltingly heartless display.

Well that and the stuff they STEAL from us. And the stuff the Chinese sell them. Either way they're better than anyone at this. Fear is a powerful motivator. I love Israel.

Right there with you. I'm afraid someone will tell me to "get a life" I don't think the latest debris is from the plane either.

Even if this debris is from the plane, I can't imagine that the investigators will ever be able to determine what happened. This debris has probably drifted hundreds of miles from the original crash site where the black box is still located underwater - how on earth will they ever find that? It's almost like finding the debris will just leave that many more unanswered questions.
