She hadn't done anything that would allow for an appeal, but it seems she finally may have done so with the CIPA order.

CIPA order? Please help translate!

CIPA is the Classified Information Procedure Act. It governs discovery of classified material. Normally in a criminal case, neither side can appeal the trial judge's rulings before the final verdict and judgment. However, CIPA has some exceptions that allow the government to file an interlocutory appeal (an appeal before the final judgment). Cannon seems to be ordering the government to give classified information to Nauta and de Oliveira even though they are not charged with Espionage Act violations and therefore there's no reason for them to have it. That's likely to cause DOJ to appeal now.

“One of former president Donald Trump's current attorneys told special counsel Jack Smith's team that, within days of the Justice Department issuing a subpoena last year for all classified documents at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, she "very clearly" warned Trump that if he failed to fully comply -- but then swore he did -- "it's going to be a crime," according to sources familiar with the matter.

Sources said the lawyer, Jennifer Little, told investigators Trump "absolutely" understood the warning, which came during a pivotal meeting at Mar-a-Lago with Trump and another attorney, Evan Corcoran, who had recently joined Trump's legal team.”

What does any of this matter if Cannon is going to delay the trial past the election? If Trump wins, he'll pardon himself or end the trial if it's not over by the time he takes office.
When did Trump offer to elevate Cannon to the SCOTUS? I googled, but could not find it. Link?

Sounds like he’s dangling that in front of her.

For as much as ”I’m a moderate Democrat”s wring their hands about wanting Biden - functional, stable, non corrupt - to “step down,” I hear nothing from them about Cannon - corrupt, compromised, non-functional - to step down and let justice happen without her stopping it up.

Why can't Jack Smith get a break from Trump,'s loyal judge. Is there nothing he can do to get her kicked off this case?

You know why. They’re Republicans who take pleasure in the grime of their party’s corruption.

Yes it is a valid reason for delays. Expecting lawyers to appear simultaneously in multiple trials, means Trump is being denied the right to an attorney.
It was Jack Smith that chose to file charges in multiple jurisdictions. He also chose to file charges on classified docs when others did the same thing. Saying Biden cooperated doesn't clear Biden. It means Smith should have charged Trump with only obstruction.
Had he done that, then there would be no delays over the classified material, which requires attorneys to be able to access the material and challenge whether the material is actually classified.

If it were anyone other than Trump, prosecutors would not be pushing to have the trials so quickly. The right to a speedy trial belongs to the defendant. Complicated trials like these take years.

This is not a complicated trial.

Menendez was charged in October 2023 and is going to trial in May of this year. Trump’s indictment was well before that and he doesn’t even have a trial date.
