Absolutley nothing just helping you find your truth that DD is not ECNL player capable of cutting it at Arlington nor Bethesda. This might be why you did not have a good experience with those clubs' ID sessions. More families need to be comfortable with this truth. Its not the ID or tyrouts that are flawed, it might just be your kid is not a good fit for that level and that is ok, plenty of GA teams now for everyone to pay to play.

lol. Plenty of GA teams for
Pay to play? Probably MYS. But come play GA next year with Jersey, PA teams and even NVA , coppermine and SYC in the area and let me Know.

It should help the league in VA be more competitive for sure. MD teams are way ahead of the GA teams in VA and as for the rest of the league, sure its better but still not anywhere near their ECNL counterparts in those same states. It could get good but for the last two years in GA it has not been too competitive if you are in VA.

How is any club "pay to play"? If a parent pays double the fee does their kid get on the team? No. Paying is part of paying for the coaches, club staff (unless YOU want to do all the coordinating for free), etc. It's not cheap running a club.

All kids need to make the team. There is no "pay to play". Ya'll need to chill with the nonsense.

So, sounds like the new Tier II stuff starts at U13 at which point the "A" team plays MLSN Tier2 and the "B" teams plays NAL, and all remaining teams play NCSL/EDP.

What about the U11-U12 ages? In what league(s) will the A, B, and C teams play, considering that it sounds like MLSN2 and NAL only start at U13.

The conference for McLean in MLSN2 is operated by NAL. so McLean 1st teams will be in NAL. all other teams will be in NCSL/EDP

McLean is awful. But it sure was fun watching them self-destruct. 5 years ago one of the top dogs in NOVA. During tryouts coaches would play on their iphones and ipads, yucking it up. Now just rabble.

Oh, I enjoyed watching the self-destruction too. I still remember the last tryout that I brought my son to for McLean. I watched the coaches either talking to each other and paying no attention to the tryouts or standing with their backs to the field. The coaches had no interest in the players. I was amazed to watch this unfold. McLean was a low to middle of the pack ECNL club and the coaches were acting like their team didn't need any improvement and were undefeated.

We then went to Arlington and SYC's tryouts and it was the complete opposite. The coaches didn't take their eyes off the field and conducted well run tryouts. My son never tried out for another McLean team since it was a waste of our time and ultimately my son and several of the other boys that were there went on to play at other area MLSNext and ECNL-N teams and a few, including my son, went on to play D1.

The self-destruction was self-inflicted and could be used as an example for karma.

Four years with MYS. When the coaches aren't looking the players it means they already know who's on the team. Been this way for a looong time.

You are looking at his way to literally. Pay to play is a complaint against the soccer system in the US compared to literally in any other country. When you are 15 more less you and you were elite (MLSN/ECNL) you would not be paying to play soccer. Our system is a reflection on our capitalist mindset to make a dime on everything. Another way to understand what people are referring to with pay to play is the necessity to pay a trainer to develop because clubs are simply trying to stack wins to attract new customers and thus spend more time on tactics and formation team training. You must pay to literally be good enough to play on these teams in some cases

FVU added Lee Mt Vernon. Mclean looking smarter with every club that is added. It's like the little car with clowns coming out of it. How many clowns can they fit in there?

Oh, I know. Then why hold the tryout? Why waste everyone's time? A good club or a club interested in getting and finding talent never assumes their club is complete. And quite frankly, it was unprofessional and the immediate outcome is that Virginia Union lost their ECNL-N badge. When a business believes they are too big or too good, that is usually the beginning of the end of that company. Maybe MYS recovers down the road, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Agree. Mclean now has cut out that whole axis of coaches--CW, NM, etc. who did this so let's see if they can do better now going forward.

Wow! What has happened at MYS? We were there five years ago when the girls program was easily the top ECNL club in the area. CW is a legend and NM is a masterful coach who build several nationally competitive teams over multiple age groups. Why would MYS self-destruct?

They sacrificed their premier girls club for their mediocre boys club to get MLS Next 2

Decline of McLean started years ago. They have not been the top girls program in the area for several years.
