I'm shocked by racism agasint Asians.

But you’re just fine with racism against other groups. We see how you think.

This exactly.

Keep the Black people out of elite colleges and the boardroom at any costs. But they can keep fighting the wars for the USA.

Are you saying that black people aren't smart enough for elite colleges or qualified enough for boardrooms?
Now, that is a racist mindset.

Underestimating the competence of black people is the dumbest thing that white people do to themselves. I went to a T14 law schools. The people who thought our black classmates were not qualified and only there because of affirmative action always ended up getting intellectually destroyed by those same classmates in moot court or a class discussion. They had it coming, but it was always painful to watch. Taking people's qualifications for granted is dangerous.

DH has had some underqualified med students applicants for residents. There was so much pressure to hire a black resident in his sub specialty. They would interview who scored lower than their normal board score cut off and they still could not get a black resident. They also wanted to get a black chairman and failed to find a qualified applicant.

Do you really want a physician who did not meet the bare minimum requirements to get an interview? Would you pick a doctor just because he was black?

I know lots of older people that went to Tuskegee. All of them are suspicious of doctors. Just google the Tuskegee experiments. And sadly that is just a famous case.

wow, you are really underqualified to talk about it, and quite racist actually ... I'm not going to make assumptions about your skin color

first of all, if this is true, it is just your particular experience and what you and your dh understood of it
second, there are significantly fewer AA med grads
third, there are so many incompetent residents and doctors that are not AA, I work in the field
forth, it should never come to wanting specific skin color but if two applicants have comparable qualifications and you want more diversity because it brings something to your hospital, then you should consider hiring the applicant that brings that with her/him

This racist policy was ruled unconstitutional. Try to keep up.

only for college admissions, try understanding better
for positions that require interview one can always say 'I like her/him more', just more likeable

This is complete BS. To become a resident you have to pass the same tests as everyone else. First MCAT, then the Step 1 exam, step 2 exam, step 3 exam and then eventually the Board exam. For someone to reach residency, it means they are highly intelligent and qualified. I don’t believe your DH story for a minute. Utter rubbish.

- Signed a physician who passed all the above tests and who has worked with brilliant Black doctors.

Shamefully I read DCUM often enough to be able to say I have seen this anecdote before. I think the PP has a document they cut-and-paste from.

+1. Went to a well know medical school and during group projects it was obvious a certain set of medical students were struggling in the courses. It casts a pall on the entire group and you actually need your doctor to be competent.

Even the way Biden picked Brown as supreme justice was wrong. She could have been in the running but to straight up ONLY search for a female black justice. I don’t understand how no one objects to this.

Meh. For hundreds of years, they ONLY searched for white men. There are many brilliant people of all backgrounds and representation matters.

However, the reverse is not true. Students with lowGPAs can achieve excellent SAT scores through tutoring. This second scenario is not indicative of a good student. Just a good test taker who may have the money to “buy” their score.

In the end, GPA and rigor are king and this is why we are moving test optional… to level the playing field

You don't understand.
Rich people can hire tutors and afford to take shit ton of APs and college level math such as multi-variable calculus, differntial equations advance statistics, etc.
This boost their rigor points and weight GPA.

SAT is at least cover just the fundamental level that low income smart kids can compete.
There are really good free resources if you have smart and will.

grade inflation means GPA scores are meaningless.

Money can buy great extra curriculars.

At least SATs and APs are standard across the board. No grade inflation. You can get free test prep online at Khan (my kid used it) or at the library, and some schools even offer free test prep.

So, your answer to past racism is:

- revenge racism?

How about we try adhered t to the radical notion of judging people by the content of their character (or legal ability) rather than by color of their skin?

we were talking about something else but because you brought it up I think the guy behind the recent case was specifically complaining that they get lower scores on likeability

The SAT as mandatory train left the station years ago. Sorry.

Keep up with the trends. "MIT" isn't it.

HYPS, Columbia, etc. Is.

(OP here)

In short, the Washington Post article asserts what I have posted repeatedly: Affirmative action admissions must be on a subjective, not an objective, basis.
