The Centreville parents acting like a move to Westfield is beneath them are ridiculous. There is very little difference between those schools.

Can you elaborate on what exactly you mean by this?

Big 9-12 high schools in southwestern Fairfax with AP courses, considerable diversity, and middle-of-the-pack test scores and academic reputations for FCPS. Neither has an Academy program.

When you consider that one reason for opening Skyview is to reduce overcrowding at Centreville, and that moving some CVHS kids to Westfield now could space taxpayers the cost of expanding Centreville to a ridiculous 3000 seats, it’s clear that moving the rest of a school that is already a split feeder to Centreville and Westfield (Bull Run) makes more sense than reassigning a school that’s closer to its current high school.

Its interesting that no one is allowed a preference to stay at their current school if its a school pp thinks is beneath their own kid. Clearly people want to stay at CVHS.
If there is no difference between the big western high schools, why is everyone screaming so loudly about being moved from Chantilly, Oakton or Centreville? The people who live there seem to think there is a big difference.

We know you’ve convinced yourself that Westfield is beneath your kid but the difference between Westfield and Centreville is negligible and doesn’t warrant your putting up a big fuss just because you think it’s the thing to do.

The sooner they announce the new boundaries the better. Silly that Reid thought dragging this out even further was a good idea.

If its not that big a deal, why are the Chantilly families crying about it?

Maybe because the Chantilly people live less than 2 miles from Chantilly?

+1 this exactly.

The problem is they built Westfield in the middle of an office park, so there is no one that’s close (i.e. walking distance). There just neighborhoods that are closer than others. Some on here have suggested turning it into a magnet school or having it house all acadmey programs, which would be a great idea because people would be electing to go there.

The notion that you could just do away with Westfield as a neighborhood school would largely undermine any justification for buying KAA in the first place.

So, where are you gong to put a school that is close to Sully Station? Virginia Run? Bull Run? not to mention all that residential new construction presently going up in your "office park?" Have you driven around there lately? Lee Rd between Costco and Willard Rd? Another development across from Sully Government Center? A development near the Westfield DMV? Plus lots of development around Wegman's on Westfield Blvd.

Plus all the homes they are building directly across from Westfield's property (maybe the same neighborhood that you said is near the Westfield DMV).

Plus all the homes in Braddock Ridge, the London Towne area, and all along Stone Road.

Westfield absolutely should not be a magnet school or where all the academy classes are housed. Those are two of the dumbest ideas presented in this thread.

This is incorrect. The new housing is going up in the Westfield-Chantilly area, not Centreville.

No there is a plan in works to add anywhere from 1500 to 7000 residential units in centreville. I think it’s called Envision Centreville.

Both are true. The Westfield side of Centreville is actively building now. Centreville side is in planning. Possibly building affordable housing at the library site, movie theater (already purchased by a developer) and one other location.

Heads up, appears the boundary tool has been updated. 2 revised scenarios

Both scenarios have Lees Corner at Chantilly AND Bull Run at Centreville.

So the Skyview schools are Oak Hill, Floris, McNair and Coates.

And Westfield stays slightly underenrolled.

Seems like the best way to do it.

And, Fox Mill at Skyview.

Meren will not be happy.

And, honestly, they sent that one small section of Bull Run to Westfield and the ones that are the farthest away from Centreville at Centreville. Seems like they would send that small area to a Westfield elementary school.

Congratulations to RIO. You did this on nothing but emotion. Geographically and logistically, it makes no sense.

Did they move part of Brookfield to Westfield?

Those are low income apartments. I don't know why you would single out that spot to send to Westfield.

I believe the part of Brookfield being sent from Chantilly to Westfield is pretty much the only area of Chantilly HS that is low income as well.

Doesn’t Revised Option 1 move part of Crossfield to Skyview? It shows Oakton going from 103% to 98% capacity based on 2025-26 enrollment.

It looks like Walney Oaks got moved to Westfield for scenario 2, but I have a hard time reading the street names so not sure.
