That was before they took out part of Floris and Fox Mill. And, maybe others.

The only change to Centreville was moving an apartment complex from Centreville to Westfield.

Down to 2080 *now*, half a day after the maps were released and then favors put in as edits. I guarantee there is frantic lobbying going on from those few areas moved in the scenarios to be moved back.

If you are familiar with the properties, you know how absurd that is. Centreville's building and footprint is much smaller.

Fair point. There are still a handful of streets with SFHs that could be moved back to Chantilly.

They are all on the phone with SB and FCPS trying to get in on that Walney Oaks special.

Well, sending the Chantilly kids at Chantilly Mews to Westfield is over 3.7 miles and at least 10 minutes. minutes.
Chantilly is 1.5 miles and 5 minutes max. (Right now, it is 4 minutes.)

Not only that, these kids are the ones that need accessibility for after school activities.

Walney Oaks is equidistant from both schools. I suspect their parents can arrange transportation for after school activities. Neither is particularly walkable, though close by car.

Where are the hearts of these deciders?

Well, they set the standard with RiO. It has no impact on the Westfield/Centreville/Chantilly boundaries, but it certainly set the standard.

I remember when McDaniel and Frisch were both happy to send Crossfield to Skyview (then KAA). Eliminate that long bus ride and to help reduce the growing population at Oakton.

Common sense; Reid may have had her opinions on who should move/not move. But, how foolish to share them publicly. I will say, the Lee's Corner episode was ridiculous. But, Walney Oaks is not.

When FCPS looks at its issues with high FARMS kids, they should look themselves in the face.

I don't like districting based on income, but I also don't like favoritism to more affluent people. In this case, it is clear that the loudest voices are in charge.

Fox Mill ES was not at Westfield, they were at Oakton.

Fox Mill has been at SLHS since 2008.

Its one thing to draw sensible boundaries that result in some schools being more or less balanced with students SES, based on where people live. Almost everyone agrees that it makes sense for McLean to have fewer poor kids than Annandale.

It is quite another thing to show obvious favoritism to wealthy areas and draw lines around those areas that don't make logical sense as a "favor", override hired consultants logical recommendations, and redline low income neighborhoods all into the same school.

+1. The last thing for low income should be to send them farther away. Truancy is already a problem.
