So, what changed?
30 years ago prominent Democrats were very much in favor of enforcing our border.
Those days are long gone. What happened?

A lot of Democrat operatives became immigration activists who demanded easier access to asylum and basically open borders. The GOP has been almost exclusively about legal immigration.

The GOP supports lots of amnesties. The most recent bill they were pushing would have given amnesty to people that hadn't crossed the border at the time the bill was voted on. One of the sponsors Yoder lost his seat.

I always see people make this claim, that high apprehension numbers must mean the border is closed/secure.

Apprehended does not mean deported.

A majority of the migrants Border Patrol apprehends are released into the US with future court proceedings, sometimes years away. That is why many of them seek out BP and turn themselves in. They don’t hope for release, they expect it.

Where's that moronic poster who always comes along to claim that "high apprehensions must mean the Biden administration is doing its job!" What a dolt.

In Texas, the Justice Department went to court this week to demand removal of a floating barrier the state installed to block migrants from wading across the Rio Grande at Eagle Pass.

In Arizona, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) was more proactive – actually welding open floodgates to facilitate more illegal crossings.

Way to look out for the low wage workers democrats. So glad you are on my side , not

Just unreal. The border is *literally open*.

It's the left that wants uncontrolled immigration because most immigrants vote democrats.

You repeat this lie about "the left" so many times that you and your people think it's true.
It's a lie.
The "left" want more legal immigration. We want the people who are here working at jobs that no American wants at wages no American will accept to have legal status to allow them to work and to work towards citizenship. These people are not taking jobs from Americans.
We do not want "uncontrolled immigration." What a load of nonsense. It's like the lie that the left wants abortion until 40 weeks of pregnancy. Lie. Lie. Lie.

DP. If any of this was true, you and "your people" would not be voting for the same Democrats who 1. insist "everything's under control!" at the border and 2. continue to make it as easy as possible for illegal immigrants to enter and stay in the US. Quit gaslighting - or rather, lying. Lie. Lie. Lie.

STFU
Pull your head out of your a**
The truth is a stranger to you.

Tell us about how there's "nothing to see at the border" and how "everything is under control." We'll wait.

This only works if you continue to allow employers to exploit migrants… why would we want to sanction this kind of behavior. If they are in a legal state, they deserve fair wages that can allow them to reasonably contribute and participate in our economy.

And at that rate, Americans may do these jobs, so why don’t we just cut off exploiting migrants and have companies/employers and subsequent goods adjust pay and cost.

DeSantis spokesperson Bryan Griffin told CNN, “Ron DeSantis will declare a national emergency on day one, mobilize all military resources, declare the cartels to be narco-terrorists, and change the rules of engagement on the border. The full force of the federal government will be utilized to ensure that illegal drug flow is stopped, and he will bring to bear every tool he has to this end.

Contrast that to this ridiculous, gaslighting administration. "The border is secure!"

It must be noted that this was Texas DPS, not the border agents.
Thank goodness Texas DPS is assisting in protecting our borders. And, Texas is having to foot the bill for this since Biden won't.

If customs and immigration cannot process applications within reasonable time (1-3 months), then people should be denied entry until the courts catch up.

Some questions to ask yourself:
1. WHY are those future court proceedings years away? It's because Republicans have steadfastly refused to provide funding to staff the courts up to reduce the backlog
2. WHY are there court proceedings at all? It's because the law says that many migrants/refugee seekers have to be given a hearing before they can be deported and Republicans have not come up with any coherent solution to change that
3. WHY are they being released into the US? Because there is nowhere else to put them and Republicans have likewise refused to address that.

But sure, do go on telling yourself how this is entirely a Democrat problem that will go away if only we vote for more Republicans. Republicans have consistently failed to solve, or coherently address it as well.

What are you talking about? Trump built a big, beautiful wall across the entire border. Nobody has been able to climb over it, tunnel under it or break enough bollards for a person to get through. Unfortunately on January 21, 2021 Biden instructed the Border Patrol to stop patrolling the border so they could dismantle the wall, which they did that day. Which is a shame considering that Mexico paid for that wall.
