I always see people make this claim, that high apprehension numbers must mean the border is closed/secure.

Apprehended does not mean deported.

A majority of the migrants Border Patrol apprehends are released into the US with future court proceedings, sometimes years away. That is why many of them seek out BP and turn themselves in. They don’t hope for release, they expect it.

This only works if you continue to allow employers to exploit migrants… why would we want to sanction this kind of behavior. If they are in a legal state, they deserve fair wages that can allow them to reasonably contribute and participate in our economy.

And at that rate, Americans may do these jobs, so why don’t we just cut off exploiting migrants and have companies/employers and subsequent goods adjust pay and cost.
