MAGA teen bused in from a Catholic school harasses Indigenous People's marcher. Vile.

I missed that Phillips was there as a veteran. Was it a veterans march?

I thought it was an indigenous people's march.

Is he native american?

How does that not make him a veteran???

If he never went to Vietnam he isn't a Vietnam veteran. Actually this is more of an example of fake news because Phillips never said he was a "Vietnam veteran". He called himself a "Vietnam times veteran." It was the "fake" news outlets who changed it to Vietnam veteran without confirming.

I'm not a veteran of any kind but if I were a Vietnam veteran I'd feel pretty gross about someone going around calling themselves a "Vietnam era veteran" when they didn't serve in Vietnam at all.

And now the grasping...

He was clarifying the time period when he served. There is nothing nefarious about that. Please. Give me a break. The gaslighting is horrendous.

Now that's rich.

Was does the DOD call people who served during that time? I want to call my dad, who was drafted in 1966 during the Vietnam War but had the good fortune to be sent to Germany, what kind of Veteran it’s acceptable to call himself. Love how much conservatives love only the “right” Veterans and even embrace assholes who dodged service altogether.

You father is a Vietnam era vet according to the VA as is Phillips. But leave out the era part and you're doing a disservice to the people who served in country during the Vietnam war.

If a person enlists today and serves a tour at Ft Hood, do they get to say they are an Afghanistan or Iraq or Syrian war vet because we have troops fighting/stationed there? No.

That’s what Phillips did and it’s despicable.

That's why the kid had a smirk. Because he knew with Trump in the White House he will prevail. It was the smirk of someone who knows he dominates.

Of course it is okay for snotty teenagers to be disrespectful to vietnam era vets.

More OK than for BHIs to yell vile things at white teenagers.

You are late to this thread. We have established that the BHIs are batshit crazy and normal people avoid them and ignore them when they are out there exercising their first amendment right of free speech.

We also established that these are the worst chaperones in the history of chaperones, and that a school that has a history of students making more decisions should not have let them out of their sight, or encouraged them interacting with the crazy people.
Catch up.

"We" established? You mean you have made your pronouncement about where the criticism should lie, and you have decided to make excuses for BHI "exercising their first amendment rights." Others disagree and feel that liberals are levying an inordinate amount of criticism on the white boys and the Catholic school because they are "safe" to criticize.

In the Liberal Land Of Excuses, the black bigots are just crazy and too much is being made about the NA liar. Sure, we get it. Ignore the blacks bigots and the hateful NA adult who taunted kids. Stay focused on the white Christian teens! Now THAT is who we are supposed to criticize.

Let's parse out if a native american is misrepresenting themselves by being at an indigenous march. I bet there is something that can be ferreted out.

Anything to take away from teenage boys acting like a mob and harassing an elderly person.

Wait, maybe he isn't even elderly!!! I think this is another direction to go, guys...

Your dad is a veteran. Nothing more, nothing less. He is not a combat veteran or a war veteran, and, certainly not a Vietnam veteran. There is nothing to be ashamed of as long as he was honorably discharged, you should be proud of his service. Plenty of soldiers did not go to Vietnam in that era--I have a cousin who was a cook in the Marines--spent his "career" at Quantico during Vietnam. DH spent two tours in Vietnam. He is a war veteran and a Vietnam veteran, and, also, a combat veteran--but his experience in Vietnam was not nearly as bad as many others experienced. There are many, many whose experiences were awful and much worse than his.

The problem with Phillips is that it has been widely reported that he was a Vietnam veteran for some years. Is that his fault? Depends on how the story started. Sounds to me a little like Blumenthal--he did not go out of his way to correct the story.

I'd say Dad was a Cold War veteran.

Born in Nebraska into the Omaha tribe, Phillips said he was five years old when he was "taken away from my family and put in foster care ... until I was 17."

Phillips said he grew up in an abusive home, started working on construction and lumber jobs, and then joined the Marines, serving in the Vietnam War.“

He’s a liar.

Nobody cares. The kids still acted like assholes.

And so did the black non-Jews.
And so did the NA guy.

But no.....libs keep focusing on the white adolescents.

(This thread shows everything wrong with libs.)

I mean, he probably wasn't even at the mall in the first place! Can he prove he wasn't in the Comet Ping Pong basement at the time of the incident?

Oddly enough it’s his age that tipped people off that he actually never served in Vietnam. He would have been 17 when the last combat troops left, which means he’d be 15-16 enlisting and training.

Your hero just was outed as a liar. Now the vet community will withdraw support because they hate men who steal valor as Phillips did, for decades. To them it’s important and it matters.

He probably said he served during Vietnam and it got translated as serving IN Vietnam.

You realize that after the war, Phillips would've been treated like crap like all military was. Many of you don't know this, but after Vietnam until late in the Reagan presidency, veterans were discriminated against and not honored and respected like they are today. So Philips would've suffered from that too.

This is very true. The discrimination was horrible at that time.
