Magic leak soup is her trick, not cabbage. |
I love this recipe. Tangy Marinated Sesame Purple Cabbage Salad Servings Prep Time 6-8 10minutes Ingredients 16 oz red cabbage. shredded very fine 1 bunch scallions. thinly sliced 1/3 cup sliced almonds. (I used soaked, peeled almonds) handful sesame seeds handful of cranberry/raisins/sliced dried peach Dressing 1/8 cup olive oil 1/8 cup toasted sesame oil 1/8 cup white vinegar 1/8 cup rice vinegar 1/8 cup sugar kosher salt to taste coarse black pepper to taste Instructions - Combine cabbage, scallions and almonds in large bowl. - In a separate, small bowl, combine all dressing ingredients. Whisk well until smooth. - Pour desired amount of dressing over salad. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. - Marinate at least one hour in the fridge. Let it marinate for a few hours for maximum flavor. Salad will stay good in the fridge for up to one day but will lose some of the crunch. - If you like your salad very tangy, use the full amount of both vinegars. If you want the flavors, but not the too much of the tanginess, reduce each vinegar measurement by half. - You can add any seeds, nuts and dried fruits to add more crunch, nutrition or sweetness. |
I have an easy cabbage recipe.
Shred the cabbage finely. Heat some olive oil, put 1/4 tsp of cumin seeds in the oil, when it starts to crackle, add the cabbage, salt and some turmeric powder. Stir fry until it starts wilting. Add some frozen peas and carrots in it. Cover with lid, stir occasionally. The cabbage smell goes away and a sweet caramalized smell emerges when all the veggies are cooked. Garnish with lemon juice and green cilantro leaves. Eat with parantha as is, or roll in a tortilla, or stuff in some sandwiches with some cheese in a sandwich maker or eat as a salad or a side. Very versatile. |
This was a pleasant surprise! CL |
I am overseas now, for work. I rarely check in here, but did today as it is a holiday here. |
Saute some chopped green cabbage with harissa paste, its DELICIOUS as a side!
I also make a delicious cabbage soup (garbure in french) with green cabbage, white beans or chick peas, diced hard chorizo and chicken. |
I would love to know how to make cabbage with veggies from Chinese food courts at malls. Sometimes I just ordered those veggies, but I have no idea how to make it.
Also exact steps to Indian cabbage recipes would be awesome. How is it so crispy and nice? |
My family loves it cut in chunks and steamed. Even the kids

I am not your Cabbage Lady, but I love this recipe from Smitten Kitchen:
https://smittenkitchen.com/2019/11/roasted-cabbage-with-walnuts-and-parmesan/ It is simple but so tasty! |
I have been doing the cabbage soup diet for years - - the original one my mom did in the 60s and 70s when she gained weight after babies and then again after menopause. Works for me. I took the advice of a dcum poster from several years ago and do it 4 times a year, with the advent of the seasons. I use the recipe on my late mom’s recipe index cards — my most treasured possession of hers.

I like this recipe a lot. I posted it a couple of years ago but not in this thread. https://www.seriouseats.com/galam-plee-nam-pla-thai-stir-fried-cabbage-with-fish-sauce-and-garlic |
Cabbage Lady - please be sure to add in that cabbage stuffed into your sports bra for 24 hrs dries up breast milk of us lactating mammas. You smell like sewer on the process but it's relatively quick and painless.
