Because there is no law saying you need to see them. Just because you want to, does not mean anything.

There is a law that says the Congress can see the last 6 years. None of us need to see the tax forms, but Congress does and it has a legal right to them. Why do you keep stating this? It is wrong.

Note the word YOU. Are YOU in Congress? There is also no law saying HE needs to release them. The Law is the IRS must release them if requested AND it is a felony for anyone that sees them to discuss them.

When I keep stating there is no law saying HE must release them and the public has a right to see them, where am I wrong?

You aren't wrong. I hope Mnuchin and anyone else who is blocking the Congressional right to obtain the returns spends time in jail.

+1 Congress has the right to see Trump's returns. And given that every major Democratic candidate has released a decade or more of tax returns without a fuss, hopefully Americans have woken up to the fact that Trump is a shady criminal.

Now that the crazy conservative justices are being installed in the Federal courts at breakneck speed by Mitch McConnel, are there any judges left who will allow this? The IRS will refuse to comply on presidential orders or something like that. Our entire government is mired in Trumpcorruption.

The law is very clear. It was passed in a bi-partisan manner. There are no loopholes. Short of invalidating a checks and balance system of government, no court will deny this request. Well, unless Squi says so.

Are you for real? The IRS will never turn over his tax returns. Never. They don’t have the authority to release them. Congress can ask all they want. The answer will be no.

No it doesn’t, and no they don’t.
Sorry.

Yes there is and yes it does. The law is insanely clear and unambiguous the chairmen of the tax writing cmtes of Congress have the right to look at anybody's tax returns.

I am utterly gobsmacked over the willful ignorance.

At this point I'm beginning to think that people like the last commenter are just trolls. Nobody, not even diehard conservatives actually believe the big lie about his taxes and this law. Hell, I don't even think they care about his taxes (why would they, it's not theirs). I think they just like arguing.

Lol. Trump’s unwillingness to share his taxes is late night gold.

the nation has yet to see the returns of the most powerful person in the country — President Donald Trump. And his excuses for not turning over the documents keep growing. During the campaign he said that he was under audit — flawed logic that he's continued to use during his first years in office. But recently he's added a new excuse — all that paperwork would just be too hard for us to understand.

But Seth Meyers says the only thing complicated about this saga is Trump's speech. The president describes his tax returns as "feet tall" and sounds, according to Meyers, like a fraudulent spam email.

Does Nadler have any authority to demand trumps taxes?

C’mon liberal keyboard warriors, at least a couple of you must know the answer to this one...

Mueller certainly seems to think Trump obstructed, but was limited by the DOJ's view that a sitting President couldn't be indicted. And anyway, there's a whole lot of other investigations going on about Trump and his shady deals. He will get what he deserves in the end.

More contempt of Congress...
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/23/us/politics/trump-tax-returns-deadline.html

A White House official said that President Trump would not comply with a Tuesday deadline set by House Democrats to release his tax returns to Congress, setting up what was expected to be an extended legal clash between two branches of government.

Asked about the April 23 deadline in an interview on Fox News, Hogan Gidley, a White House spokesman, signaled that Mr. Trump was girding for a protracted fight over his returns. Earlier this month, Richard E. Neal, the Democratic chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, formally requested from the Internal Revenue Service six years’ worth of the president’s personal and business tax returns, but so far the Treasury Department has said it needs more time to respond.

“As I understand it, the president is pretty clear, once he’s out of audit, he’ll think about doing it, but he is not inclined to do so at this time,” Mr. Gidley said.

But releasing the tax returns is not exactly Mr. Trump’s choice. Mr. Neal is employing a provision of the tax code to request the returns, which he said his committee needs in order to evaluate the policy of automatic audits of presidential tax returns.
