Exclusive: Key House Democratic chairman requests Trump's tax returns

What I think Trump doesn't want us to see in his tax returns is that he is in debt up to his eyeballs and not as rich as he says he is. I think the money comes from Russian oligarchs, which is why he is so deferential to Putin.

Is that a small thing?

It's a huge thing. He doesn't want people to know it.

I'm the PP who suggested that Trump is in debt. I think it is a huge thing, but it may not rise to the level of illegality. I think we deserve to know .

I'd be surprised if Trump isn't in debt. The question isn't whether Trump has debt, but what his net worth is. That is a much tougher question to answer without an audit, and one that can't be answered by looking at tax returns since income is not the same as wealth. It was one of the first lessons taught in accounting class that it's quite normal for a business to keep two sets of books, one for taxes, and one for internal accounting - it's the third set of books that investors have to worry about.

House Ways & Means member Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ): "Trump is now claiming that he is under an IRS audit and that this shields him from our request. This is a lie. The law is crystal clear and brokers no exceptions. We are prepared legally and morally. If they want a fight, they’ll get a fight."

He is a giant fraud.

Allegedly.

I think we will also find out if trump is under audit and if so, what years he is under audit. Personally, i doubt he is under audit at all. This could very well be the end of him politically.

There was a poll that showed that most Americans already think Trump is a tax cheat. His base will stick with him no matter what.

Doesn't even matter whether he's under audit. Nixon released his taxes while under audit.

If anyone thinks that an organization as large as Trump hasn't been audited in the recent past, repetitively, is kidding themselves.

The point is that it’s irrelevant. He could release his taxes while under audit or not, and this law says the IRS must release them to Ways & Means whether he’s under audit or not. And there is NFW that he personally AND all the different Trump Org entities subject to the House request have all been under audit every year of the last six years. It’s total BS.

Plus, do you happen to know the county where taxpayers get audited the most? It’s not New York County or Los Angeles County or Cook County or Fairfax County, where the money is. It’s Humphreys County, Mississippi, where the average annual income is $24,000. The IRS is so busy trying to find dirt poor EITC cheats that they’re not bothering to audit people with money. Because those with the gold make the rules. It’s so perverse.

Screw Richard Neal.

There was a huge blue wave in 2018– the biggest midterm landslide in recorded history. Dems won a huge share of the popular vote even though Republicans have rigged the system against the average American with gerrymandering and voter suppression and legalized dark money political bribery.

And Dems won big in 2018 BECAUSE Dem voters want oversight of the Trump GOP.

And fricking Richard Neal takes 3 months for nothing? Wake up Congressional Dems. We want real oversight of this criminal President before he gives another country nuclear weapons that could well turn them on us.

His base will stick with him because Fox “News” lies to the base. They think (laughably) that Dems are worse.

If you want to fix the country you have to stop rightwing lying media.
