Yes. There’s been a few times when he admitted to not reading them after flubbing his lines - mispronouncing place names or people’s names. One time he was sent to open a library and mispronounced its name to his audience ?

He's the President of BAFTA (the British answer to the Oscars) and at the event honoring Bollywood he admitted he had never watched a Bollywood film.

What’s his problem?

He was born into this immensely privileged position and yet he resents it and can’t be bothered to put in the bare minimum if work. It’s ridiculous.

Maybe he wishes he was an ordinary person? You say privileged he may think of it in different terms. He had no choice in the matter strictly because of his birth. To make matters worse, his father has a long term affair partner and his beloved mother dies. Don't you have any sympathy?

Not when he is completely fine taking the perks (two super luxe houses renovated and refurbished on the government's dime. It's well known that Kate tore out a brand new 50k kitchen just because it wasn't too her exact taste).

That doesn't prove anything. To me if he hates the reason he is there why not make the best of it? And that means taking advantage of the perks.

How is he "making the best of it" if he doesn't even read the briefing notes he pays someone to prepare on the way to an event? And then when he inevitably makes a mistake, he laughs about it to the audience? Doesn't he get that the subtext to that, is "haha I can't even be bothered to put my best foot forward for you rubes."

Are you the pp? I am waiting to here there tragic story. And to answer your question you can see things negatively if you dislike someone and positive things if you do like them.

Haters: He is showing them contempt by laughing at them! He can't be bothered to prepare. What a bore.

Positive: He made a mistake and is trying to be funny by making fun of himself. Self-depreciating humor.

And when I mean making the best of it I mean enjoying the perks.

No I don't care that he has a tragic backstory. A lot of people do. They don't use it as an excuse to be lazy and rude though.

Maybe they do but, they aren't expected to do what William has to do. He had no choice in the matter. He has to live his life publicly doing this job. And again, we aren't talking about most people. If you are the pp it sounded like you had a tragic story. But, I see you don't. Prince William and Harry's story is unique in that their mother was shared by everyone. They had to grieve in public but, with a stiff upper lip. If you have zero sympathy than I say you have no heart.

And speaking about lazy....it is your opinion and not fact. Tabloids don't matter because they are trying to sell papers. You apparently have plenty of time to post here. So you are lazy too!

He has his own wealth yes but their homes and daily living expenses are comped by the British people. Wouldn't you try to show that you are going above and beyond to be deserving of something unusual like that?

+ 1

You see the difference between them and Meghan very clearly with respect to this issue. She is so obviously determined to show people that she is deserving of this immensely privileged position she has in life due to her marriage. She wants to show that she can rise to the occasion.

+2 William's disdain and Kate's lack of interest look really stark in comparison.

Doesn't Harry have the same tragic story and also thrust into the public position? He was quite young and his mother died just a few days before his birthday. He's not loafing it.

I don't blame him. I'm Indian and you couldn't pay me to watch Bollywood films anymore.

You're missing the point. It's not that he hasn't seen any Bollywood films. It's that he doesn't care enough about his "job" to put even the bare minimum amount of effort in by reading the notes prepared for him by his staff.

In contrast, Charles, Camilla, and Meghan apparently over prepare for these things by not only reading their briefing notes but by researching the organization so they can sound educated about it and learning people's names and what they do. That's an easy way of making people feel special and remembered.

And not only does he not do the bare minimum, he is so contemptuous of the people who shows up to see them that he laughs to THEM about not reading the notes and making mistakes.

It's rudeness is what it is.

This a 100%

His behavior is extremely unbecoming and outrageously rude. Meeting a Duke or a King is a very big deal for many many common people and a once in a lifetime experience. For him to be so rude is outrageous and very wrong.

Kate is similarly aloof and off-putting. The two of them together don't care at all about their titles and positions.

Meghan has to try hard to overcome prejudices.

She is very popular in the US, and among some in UK, but overall she isnt as popular as you think. Most people are apathetic.

Yeah, no. She's now immensely popular. Here are my sources:

Note - from one of the Red Tops that regularly slams her for "breaking protocol.")

This may be more because of non-UK tourist but still:

I don't know where you are getting this information. I've never read that Prince William is rude or that the Duchess is aloof . Please source your material and it better not be the tabloids.

It really blows my mind that “regular” people who presumably work full time for a living defend his inability to show up to a few handful of events per week and shake hands while be financially supported by the brithish public.

Note to pp. I did include Prince Harry. However, I believe Prince William has more pressure and more expectations. William has done work in the past but, unlike you I haven't memorized his schedule or past work. If he is taking it easy ( and I have no idea as I am not personally invested like you) than it probably will be temporary. I think Prince Harry and Duchess of Sussex are taking advantage of their popularity ( a good thing) to help the firm, which in the end helps the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William.

Your opinion is just that. Unless you are living in the UK or in the palace and know what is going on you have zero idea.

As for me, I wish both Prince William and Prince Harry's family well.

Good point!

Harry has”made the best of his position,” as you put it, by using his influence in the world to do some good and create a lasting impact with the Invictus Games and his other charity Sentable, which he can feel proud about. Meghan already has her cookbook.

Meanwhile William has no charity initiatives of his own, nor does Kate. And before you say that’s because he’s the heir not the spare, that’s not it. While waiting for his turn as king, Charles created the Prince’s Trust a huge charity in Britain. When Prince Charles asked him to take it over for him, William said no!!! He is soooooo lazy it’s unbelievable.

What do you say to that PP?

I defend him because I have no idea if there is a good reason behind it and neither do you. Why are you so invested? Are you British person actually living in the UK and thus supporting him? If not, it has zero impact on your life.

Beside charity, additionally they perform other duties. William was present for and part of Emma Thompson’s damehood.

Whoever thinks it’s all about charity has it all wrong. I’ve said from day 1 that Meghan has that in her head. She has no real British loyalty so it translates into a globalist elite idea that royalty is there for charity. It’s part of it, but there are British traditional societies to support, an important family member or two or three to raise.

Maybe Wills is reading books all day. Maybe he plays an ocassionally video game. Exercises, plays with the kids, reads them books, plans social media for charities or other events, etc etc. It doesn’t concern you.

I agree. Watch their engagement interview again if you have time. She wanted to hit the ground running on charity work.

I honestly think it’s wonderful, though pp is correct, it’s more of a charity-across-the-world attitude and not a full understand of what they do. Anyways, she doesn’t need to care about that because she can advocate for charitable work and doesn’t need to worry about the monarchy.
