Is Prince William jealous of Harry and Meghan's popularity?

Anonymous
This is just like Elizabeth and Anne! But look who won, Queen Elizabeth. And William will eventually win too. Harry may be popular but Wills will end up with his face on the coins (too bad for the public).

These two were super close and Harry always paid attention to Kate. She never looks as Happy with just Wills around.

You're an idiot. The Princess Royal Anne is the Queen's daughter.

I like Harry and meg MUCH more than will and Kate.

Kate seems sweet but a doormat and terribly insecure.

She always seemed so comfortable when around Harry and positively glowed. Now that Meghan's here, Harry is off limits and she is back to square one stuck with her dour husband and worried about when he'll have another temper tantrum. Wills is ofcourse jealous of Harry and Meghan and I'm sure Kate witnesses a lot of meltdowns.

With that picture of Kate in the blue dress, Will was cropped out. In the original picture he was also belly laughing.

The honeymoon phase and baby euphoria are a perfect storm of popularity and papparazzi delight. The novelty will wear off soon. They'll both go into hiding in a few months. Then the Royals will release an official photo of Baby Louis 1st bday/Family portrait, W+K will make some appearances, and the popularity pendulum will swing the other way.

Very unlikely that they will ever attract crowds or excitement like this again.

I agree. Megan’s pushing 40. People will be losing interest soon.

PP must have meant Margaret, the Queen's late sister.

Yes I did - oops. She’s so much less famous now that I forgot her name! But she was the pretty one in her day.

She was the pretty one and she ended up having a rather sad and tragic life. Just goes to show its not all castles, titles, rainbows and unicorns.

Prince William is said to be very aware of his status as the future king, while his wife doesn't want to overshadow him. How will they cope with Harry and Meghan’s soaring profile?

By Tom Sykes

The crowds turning out in Australia to greet Meghan and Harry this week, where the couple are on a 16-day tour, are unprecedented.

Crowds of that size have not appeared for Queen Elizabeth on any of her trips to Australia (which date back as far as the 1950s), and Harry and “Megmania” easily eclipses the enthusiasm with which William and Kate’s 2104 trip to Australia—even with crowd-pulling Prince George in tow—were received…. Meghan and Harry could easily steal William and Kate’s thunder. And that really wouldn’t be wise at all.

William is said by some who know him to share one of his father’s less admirable traits—jealousy. Sources have told The Daily Beast that fear of provoking his jealousy is rumored to be one of the reasons why Kate has consistently sought to dampen her public profile and withdraw from public life wherever possible. As the royal biographer Penny Junor told The Daily Beast recently: “I suspect Kate is holding back slightly to ensure she doesn’t overshadow her husband. That is what went so disastrously wrong for his parents.”

EveryonWilliam is also said to be intensely aware of his status as future king, to the extent, sources say, that he is often jestingly referred to in his absence as “King Billy” or “King William” by friends and staff, who clearly understand they are, in his eyes, playing supporting roles. Harry and Meghan’s trip to Australia is part of that supporting role, and no one will be more delighted it is going so well than Kate and William. With another 10 days of this 16-day monster tour still to go, there will be no let-up on the intense coverage either at home or abroad.

ButWhat remains to be seen is how serenely William and Kate will cope with Harry and Meghan’s soaring profile, if, as seems entirely likely, the all-star Sussexes continue to claim a larger slice of global and domestic attention than the decidedly drab Cambridges.

No, I don't think Will is jealous. The Daily beast has to sell papers and so it stirs the pot.

I would think that the popularity of Harry and Meghan benefits Will immensely, and Kate by extension.

Will is going to be the King. His kid will be the King (or Queen). It is in his best interest to keep the British monarchy popular and intact. It is also in Kate's best interest to do the same, because of her kids (no matter what happens btw she and Will, her kids are always going to be royalty). Will does exactly what he needed to do given his role in life, carries himself the way he should, etc. Kate also does exactly what she is supposed to do. That isn't very exciting though. The future King of England acting like he is supposed to isn't sexy and/or exciting. Luckily for him, he has Harry.

Harry has always been able to get away with doing so much more than Will. When they were young, he was an arse in ways that Will never could be (like the nazi costume). But since they have gotten older, he has been able to be more outspoken about things than Will, in ways that garner publicity and do good things for others. And marrying Meghan is something Will never could have done. So now they both can be popular and awesome and help maintain the popularity of the monarchy for as long as possible.

Will is no fool. He knows his role, Harry knows his. They both play them well.

Or it could be that Kate is holding back because her husband's late mother had a HUGE public profile and died tragically because of the public's interest in her (the paparazzi wouldn't have been chasing her if she wasn't who she was). I'd imagine he would be concerned for his wife/the mother of his children, and not want to lose her also.
