Why do you love trump? The justification in your statement doesn't explain love of trump.

Because he truly loves America and American values, he is a straight talker, and I think his intention is to genuinely fix the problems that are plaguing this country. To me, that's very important.

Yeah, DEFINITELY a straight talker haha

Straight into badly covering his ass from all his lies...I don't think the man's capable of telling the truth, or maybe he's just so narcacistic and riddled with dementia that he actually believes he's not lying?

I love America more than anyone else I know; I truly don't think you can fully appreciate all that our amazing country has to offer without living abroad for at least a year. I'm saddened, but not shocked by all the republican hate and ignorance on here.

Sometimes I think about leaving my DH. But we think he's going to get a very large inheritance from his 90 year old father.

I hate being poor.

I allow myself to feel superior and smug about my very smart kid growing up as a city kid in a racial and economically diverse school and neighborhood.

Sometimes I feel like I'm a little racist because so many POC live up to the worst stereotypes about their group.

Most Americans I've met in the Washington DC area (NW DC, Bethesda and Silver Spring, to be precise), greatly lack the literary, geographical and historical references, general culture and knowledge of the world exhibited by the British, French, German and other Europeans.

It's actually quite scary when you consider that the capital area is composed of this country's educated elite. Sadly, it gives credence to the stereotype of the crass American. It might explain why this country voted for Trump, when the majority of European nations, despite much greater incentive to do so (a lot more migrants and unemployment), have so far resisted electing an extremist leader.

+ 1

They are also lacking in knowledge for other cultures and countries in Asia, Africa, Australia and South America. It is astounding.

+1000. If he's so awesome why are you so scared to say it IRL? You're really that scared what a bunch of liberals think even though you think they're idiots? Clearly you know that you are supporting some ideas that are wrong by supporting him and you don't want your racism/white Christians are the best - attitudes to be known even in Bethesda.

+1. I'll admit that out loud. Most UMC parents will too. Just maybe not at the office.

I have never heard anyone admit this in real life except by saying they want "good" schools or N not S Arlington, Bethesda not Silver Spring.

I think this IS pretty much said out loud by saying only N Arlington or Bethesda, not S Arlington or SS. And I'm fine with it - if I or anyone else is willing to pony up more money for a smaller house so my kid can go to school with the kids of lawyers, doctors, and scientists, that's my right. If you prefer a larger newer house with peers whose parents may work construction or clean homes or whatever, that's great for you.

You can walk the streets of Europe and still see the damage that comes from electing an extremist leader. They recall how the educated elite laughed and then were silenced by an angry and downtrodden majority. They've left half-bombed churches, bullet holes in the sides of buildings, empty fields that used to be dense neighborhoods. These things can go unnoticed if you're not aware of them, but most Europeans were raised to constantly look at the past, be aware of mistakes that were made, and be vigilant against repeating them. Unlike Americans.

This thread seems to be a mixture of political posts that should be posted in the Political Forum and simple negative remarks about others. I'm sure the DCUM community can come up with something better to discuss.
