Men age like fine wine while women age like milk.

Not in my experience. I went to my 20th 2 years ago (McLean) and the men were ATROCIOUS! Fat, balding, sloppy, and dishevled. The women had maitained themselves so much better. Its like these guys peaked in high school and over the las 20 years had just let themselves go. I went home and climbed on top of my DH and did him real good, with the realization that i was married to a 1%er and i could have actually ended up with one of those slobs

I shudder to even picture that scene again.

Are you telling me three guys will get some sort of miracle makeover? It's not like these guys grew up poor or anything. They were just so incredibly dumpy.

I agree. More men than women let themselves go. Too fat, too skinny, bald, etc. But, what I find interesting is that these men still perceive themselves to look just as they did at 20! And deserving of good looking women! Among my friends, almost all of DHs are having bellies that would make a 9 months old pregnant women look slim, no muscle, some might have hair, still in the 80s style. Yet, these same tools think they are a catch to VS model looking younger women! It is so pathetic to see. I am slim, have great hair, exercise, etc, but apart from one friend's DH, I don't know any other that have gone to the gym ever. As a fun story, my DS was asked my his friends just how young am I. He is a teen. No, I was not flattered, but boys/men have very little common sense about what is appropriate topic no matter the age. My very heavy(think triplets belly) FIL goes on cruises and thinks he is funny when he tells me his story about how they went "whale watching." Yes, you know what he means.

Interesting, my morbidly obese FIL is also critical of women's weight. Come to think of it, all the men I know who criticize overweight women are overweight themselves.

I'm a 40 yr old "hot" woman and will absolutely say I was an ugly duckling in my 20s compared to my sexy thirties. In my 20s, yes I had fun backpacking around the world and wearing shitty clothes and chopping my hair short pixie cut, and hooked up with a lot of dudes. I was 110 pounds and 5'7" and naturally skinny and ate like a horse.

But my 30s, I joined a gym, lifted weights, got up to a healthier 125 pounds, grew out my hair, highlighted it, and suddenly felt unstoppable - whoosh! -- no longer the DJ dudes I was hooking up with, but CEOs and their planes -- and I was too busy for them because I was in grad school and in private sector killing it - but feeling smoking hot.

It's all about a state of mind. I've quit the need to "feel" hot and in my 40s am into yoga/meditation/letting go of the competition and materialism of my 30s.........

I still feel like each year should get better than the last!

But LOL if you think you've peaked in your 20s, please re-adjust your world view - and focus on your emotional/intellectual growth/maybe polish yourself up inside and out.

Hugs to you!!!

OP here and I *love* this. That is pretty much how I'm feeling in my 30s, and I am trying to take more pride in myself and my appearance. Thank you!

You are dillusional.

Sorry to disappoint sweetheart but it's very much true. Nobody ever guesses my age and are always stunned when I say I am in my thirties. They are expecting me to say my next milestone birthday is 21 and that I am in my late teens. It happens, accept it.

Cosmetic Dermatologist here. I see about 350 patients a month. They all either want to roll back time, get ahead of time, or stop time. For the record, there is not a 32yr old who looks under 21. You either look good for 32 or not. Some people, at a stretch might look 4yrs younger than they are, but the older they get the more than gap narrows. On the flip side, you absolutely can look like you are 60 at 50. The goal is to look great for your age. Heres the secret and it's free. Listed in order of importance

1. Make sure you wear sunblock and hats from birth. Much damage is done before you even turn 20. Its never too late to start. The sun the enemy pf beauty.
2. Don't have kids
3. Get 8hrs+ a night of uninterrupted sleep (see above).
4. Do not drink any alcohol, smoke, or do drugs.
5. Exercise 7 days a week. Walking 15k steps preferred, plus 2-3 days of weight training. Don't get more than 15lbs overweight.
6. Drink lots and lots of water
7. Eat a well rounded diet and take B, D, and Magnesium

But this is assuming that money and looks are the only qualities valued in people. This may be what YOU value but not necessarily everyone else.

Get over yourself. MOST women place salary as #1 on the attractiveness list.

I would honestly like us to meet. Maybe I am one of the 1% but I kid you not, I got told almost weekly that I look 17. I am 32. I am not lying when I say this, people are astounded by my age and as I said before, think I am looking forward to a couple of years time when I turn 21. I am not boasting here but I find it strange that you say it is unheard of to look so much younger than your years. I could even send you a photo to prove my point?

^^^ Why not just post it here?

I don't want to blow my identity obviously?
If there is a way of getting an email address across (To the cosmetics poster) I will gladly do it. I am tired of people saying it is impossible to look late teens in your thirties. I am living proof that it isn't.

My daughter is 32 with two toddlers and people often think she is the nanny given she looks so young. She can "dress" her age but when dressed casually she does look around 20. She finds it a bit annoying at times but I've told her that when she's 45 she will be very happy.

This proves my point, thank you PP.

And it's in their power to stop this?

You'd be more than a 1%er. I see 2,500 patients a year and have never once seen a 32yr old woman look under 25, let alone 21.

I've also never seen an actress whose entire livlihood depends on her looking forever young at age 32 with an entire staff of people around her helping her look as good as possible look a day under 25.

I'm sure you look great, don't sweat it!
