When white people shoot shit up, it is for batshit crazy reasons.

These are both associated with Neo-nazi/aryan brotherhood and white pride causes (and KKK of course).

I believe the excuse was that his parents pushed him too hard. Seriously.

Actually, the Virginia Tech Shooter had a history of mental illness and was treated by one of Virginia's county clinics. His parents sent him off to college and hoped for the best, but he went off his meds and the rest is history.

But before his mental illness was confirmed, were the initial speculations, tiger parenting broke him? If so, it is still a negative racial stereotyping against a non-white mass shooter.

Sorry if I am not making it all about race for you. As I said, the person is likely mentally ill and his delusions centered around either someone in the church or black people. His comments about race, that he told one of the victims, sound very paranoid. And for the record, mental illness effects all races.

See -- you got it all wrong. Yes, he is crazy. Yes he was spewing racist garbage which is likely a manifestation of his craziness. Yes, the media and very much society paints alleged black criminals very differently than white ones. This guy and other mentally ill white folk get to be the crazy that they are, black folks are usually just "thugs".

Not those PPs. Right. Several people on this thread and others have pointed out that mass killings are portrayed in the media as mentally ill white guys while other races are portrayed as thugs and criminals. I've got that clue. Where I'm a bit behind, though, is that mass shooters all seem to actually be mentally ill white guys.

The along Island Railway mass killer was not white, nor were the Beltway serial killers, Mohammed and Malvo.

Right, but that's so outside the norm that during the sniper attacks, everyone was on the lookout for a white guy.

I don't think saying this guy was mentally ill is an "excuse." It's reality. The man didn't just walk in shooting up the place because black people were in it. He sat in that church for an HOUR watching these people and somehow still didn't fundamentally get that they are PEOPLE. How can a person even think about doing that if they aren't mentally ill? It's just too f*cked up. I would say the same if he were black and did this to a church full of white people. If the man in the latter scenario is described by the media or whoever as a "thug," that still doesn't change the FACT that he is in all probability mentally ill.

That is not an excuse -- dude sounds crazy, VA tech dude was crazy. Just because institutionalized racism exists and paints alleged black criminals as typical of all black people does not make any of these other nuts any less crazy. The two things are not mutually exclusive. I am a black woman who very clearly sees racism and crazy ALL AT THE SAME DAMN TIME.

The suspects comments to a witness seem to clearly indicate this was a racist attack.
