| Yick, not good to hear. We would be coming from Columbia Heights area - would taking 11th down past Florida alleviate any of this? |
| We live in NoMa and are wondering if it's possible just to drive up M St? I know there's construction on L but wondering if there's any way to avoid that big awful intersection of Fl/NY. Suggestions? |
| New poster. We will be coming from MtP; will they really be running a bus from the old location? |
| For those who responded that it would be horrible, what does that mean? How crazy are we talking? (referring to area around Truxton; NoCa and Fla area) |
Thanks for the heads up! Any idea when they are going to close 1st? Closing 1st NW above Channing has been hell for N. Cap - literally doubled our commute time to school! Moving is looking better and better... |
Yes, turn into Q St NW not P. Keep going until you hit 1st NW and make a left into P St NW. |
I do the reverse - I live near new-MV and drive to CM (in Columbia Heights). It is horrible. Yesterday, it took me almost an hour to get home. I'm leaving work early today to get my kid at 3:30 because I just can't handle the traffic today. |
In that scenario I would just take 11th (or 9th) to Q. You could take U/Florida to 1st as well, but the blocks between R and P get very backed up as mentioned earlier. In the mornings going east on Fla it isn't bad except for occasional backups at the RI/NJ Ave intersection. You couldn't take M from the NoMa area, it's one way going the wrong way from that direction. |
I'll sell you my house, if you can find me a house near new Creative Minds
|
Shhhhhh. Don't tell people about Q! Damn it! |
Google "First Street Tunnel Project". They actually don't have all of the traffic details worked out, but it's a fair bet that one side of the roadway will be totally or partially closed starting late 2014/2015 as they dig a giant trench. They would choose to keep the northbound direction open because ambulances need that path to the hospital. Lots of information out there to read. We live in the neighborhood and expect traffic hell for close to the next decade combined with whatever ends up happening with the sand filtration site. If you plan to use N Cap to the new MV it would be wise to start testing alternate routes now. |
DC goes to Yu Ying which is actually near the new Creative Minds location so it won't work. I live near new MV - literally a five minute walk so I need to swap houses with someone in Brookland who is sending their kid to MV and works downtown.

O.M.G! Thanks again! |
I have an idea for a new thread "swap your house with me" |
We also live near MV (also a 5 min walk or even less). I would swap you my house except we don't have a school to go to yet!! . yeah, we're shut out.
