Do you poop at work?

It was not considered very clean or hygienic if one dressed up for the day, and then had to poop. I would take another shower then, if I had to do that.

I have trained my kids the same. But at work I saw these women, rushing to poop after lunch and I was very put off. It is one thing if you have a stomach bug etc, but to do this everyday ...

However, I saw the same at DC's school. Lot's of kids came to school but needed to use the bathroom as soon as they were in school to poop.

So I am wondering - is this sequence of bodily functions and morning ablutions not given the same importance here?

So I am wondering - WHERE are you from??!!

Canada! Where else?

Off-topic, but wouldn't you brush your teeth after you eat breakfast?

Drop in the bowl some toilet paper before you poop. This masks the plopping noise and eliminate any splash backs.

Yes, sometimes you have to go, but get into the healthy habit of regularly pooping in the morning at home. Preferably before you shower.

I guess it would make more sense to brush after each meal to remove food particles. And so brushing after breakfast is a lot healthier.

Growing up, the pattern we followed was , you went into the bathroom as soon as you woke up - pooped, brushed, showered. Dressed in your bedroom. Came down and had your breakfast. You were pretty much ready to start the day. Now my body is trained to eliminate poop first thing in the morning.

How do you get in the habit of pooping at a certain time? I am 43 years old and have yet to figure that out!

I don't know how to answer this. We got in the habit as kids. I trained my kids from when they were potty-trained. I would give them a sippy-cup of milk in bed, and after they had had their milk, I would make them sit on the potty until they pooped.

Maybe start with some stool softener at night and eat lots of fibrous food and drink plenty of water? In the morning, drink your coffee and sit on the toilet to see if you would poop? Bowels can be trained to eliminate at a regular time. Try this during vacations or long weekends and see if you have any success?

I have never heard of training yourself to poop at the same time every day before. Fascinating.

I never used to but then I worked in a building with one person bathrooms and I became a pooping machine at work. I got really good at taking like 39 seconds or so to poop too. Before, I'd been a "bring a book and read a few chapters" type complete with hobbling out after a half hour barely able to walk. Now when I poop at home, if I bring anything into the bathroom with me fir entertainment it's always a catalog because I'll be lucky to look at two pages of pics before it's time to wipe.

I eat a very healthy high fiber diet with lots of veggies so i poop multiple times a day. At least once usually at work. Takes no longer than peering so what does it matter?

. Are you kidding??? You think taking drugs to avoid pooping at different times is a good idea?!? His about eating more vegetables? That would make you poop. Listen to your body and treat it well!

Okay but watch out - my DH was raised this way and the long stretches on the toilet meant that he now has hemorrhoids, poor guy.

+1 exactly me too.

same - and i really hate when i'm off my schedule. but, no, i am not otherwise anal retentive. i'm just private about some things. i prefer my coworkers not to have to experience the more foul aspects of my personhood, if possible. and i really, really hate when people do poop in the shared bathrooms. it's gross to hear, it's gross to smell, the streaks are disgusting, and i feel really badly for the person whose job it is to clean that shit.

on occasion, i've had to - if i suddenly got sick or something. and i find it really unpleasant.

?? Seems like his diet may not be very high in fiber. Lots of fruits, veggies, water, probiotics (like yogurt, kimchi) will ensure that you poop easily and quickly. Straining to poop is not a good thing.

Have him use a step-stool to change his posture while pooping, or use a squatty potty.

Thanks PP, 10:37 here. I can't tell him anything it is just too personal for him and a permanent part of his life. I've tried to suggest. He needs to hear it from his doctor.
