He is telling me that he still loves me he just wants to hook up with other people but is not interested in dating anyone else. I’m really not sure what to think of this or how to respond. Just for context, I am in my 30s and we have two kids. We have been married for almost 8 years. I was very surprised about this conversation and kind of in shock, so I told him I needed some time to think. What should I say to him and how would you respond if your husband asked for permission to sleep around?

Why? Is he sexually frustrated because you decided to stop sleeping with him regularly? Perhaps he has simmering resentment.

Yeah that was my initial reaction, but I’m not sure if divorcing him is a good idea. When my grandfather got divorced, he ended up getting remarried later and some skank stole my mother’s inheritance. I don’t want my kids inheritance to get stolen from them by a sleazy second wife.

It might not be your choice if he decides to leave.

Yeah but we have a prenup that whoever files for divorce is gets less of the assets. There’s no cheating clause in it, just basically it’s presumed that the person who files for divorce is the one who caused the divorce.

What a stupid prenup stipulation.

+1

The "Christian marriage" husband would never go outside of marriage to be with another woman.

Other men, yes. Teenagers, probably. Definitely not another woman.

My aunt's ex husband was the minister and was sleeping with multiple married women in his congregation.

The Christians just tell their spouses "God has forgiven me, you're wrong not to."

Your single data point is noted. However, the data tells us that Americans who regularly attend church are between about 30 and 50 percent less likely to divorce. They are also about 15 percentage points more likely to say they are happily married, compared to secular couples. (American Enterprise Institute)

Ken Paxton would like to have a word. As would Philip Yancey.

Millions of others who are in stable, respectful Christian marriages would also like a word.

Atheists have some of the lowest divorce rates:

And demand marriage counseling, plus meet with a divorce lawyer.

Why do you think only Christians are capable of being in stable, respectful marriages? MAGA really like parading their ignorance.

Exactly.

Talk about a lack of imagination.

Don’t you think the wronged person would be must likely to initiate divorce????

That's really not wise. I'd say the person who files for divorce is the aggrieved party - spouse cheated, is an alcoholic, is using drugs, is abusive. To top that, mostly women file - because it is in their interest to get out from a cheating abusive alcoholic using man. Men benefit from staying married.

Ministers of large, very conservative denominations are the MOST likely to cheat (fiscally, emotionally, sexually)

Agreed. That stipulation rewards bad behavior!

I think if you hadn’t been sleeping with him, it makes sense to me.

OP here, Right blame the wife. We were still having intimate time 2-3x a week before he told me this.
