He has what we once knew as the law, on his side, but since MAGA is blowing up the Constitution, I can see where you come to that conclusion.

In the new US order, Trump is the law and MAGA are the followers and adherents.

But wait isn't MAGA the "don't tread on me" party. Hmmmm....this is where education would help them understand this administration is beyond treading and now officially standing on their necks.

No. The government is enforcing the will of a minority of the people.

Yes California is just too crowded and rich. No one wants to live there!

Same thing happened in Flint, MI. The tax base rolled out. Good luck with that.

No actually Flint declined at the same time as all other USA manufacturing declined. Manufacturing jobs in every region of the USA took the same hit. Even Republican low tax towns.

Even doing this non-violently was enough to declare insurrection during Shay's Rebellion.

I know this is hard for you to understand but without due process there are no federal laws. It is really the Republicans who are acting outside the law.

Not understanding due process isn’t a character flaw—it doesn’t mean someone isn’t paying attention or doesn’t care.

It might help Democrats—and bring more people over to their side—if these ideas were explained in simple, clear language. Think third-grade level. Not because people aren’t smart, but because legal jargon can feel confusing or alienating.

Erin Brockovich (film version) connected with people in life-or-death situations by dropping the legal speak and just talking to them like real human beings. She wasn't uptight, she wasn't arrogant..she just used straight talk and empathy.

Try that and see what happens.

It’s not “arrogant” to use the real words for a legal concept. It’s just factual. If you are confused by the phrase “due process” then you are probably not very smart.

There is due process.
Democrats just like to repeat this mantra that there isn't.

If only more people would leave CA, then I could afford to move back. Hate this DC area. *sigh*

It wouldn’t be against 49 other states. There are many states that would follow. USA is too big and too divisive. We need to split into four, if not five, separate countries. The great experiment of 250 years is not working and has not worked for the majority for a long time.

On this issue we already have most of the people on our side. Most people disapprove of trumps mishandling of enforcement in LA and across the country.

They can leave the union. The talk is Washington, Oregon and California leaving the Union and joining Canada as three provinces. Trump and the Republicans will happy let them go. All republicans hate California and the west coast.

Nope Trump and the MAGA would not be happy to let the fifth largest economy in the world to go taking with it, some of the largest ports and military bases. in the country. Nope it will be a fight. MAGA needs California to support the rest of the USA’s welfare states.

Yet, there are millions of Rs in the west coast.

If CA ever moved to Canada, we might actually move back to CA.

Illinois is on its own. Michigan would shift to a move to Canada along with Minnesota. There will be a new great American migration because I’m moving north and a lot of maga people are moving south.

Nonsense. They hate California.

They can withhold federal funds. As the economic powerhouse of the US it would get some attention.

Putting aside the legal issues, how would they actually do that? People and companies send their federal taxes directly to the federal government. They don’t go through the California state government first. So how would California “withhold” it?

Paraphrasing another post elsewhere:

The state of California has jurisdiction over the payroll processors which transfer withholdings to the IRS.

The courts with jurisdiction are in California.

Pass a law requiring all businesses in California to pay all federal withholding/taxes into an escrow managed by the state to be used to pay the federally legislatively allocated funds. Shift the burden of compliance from individuals to the state.

There are a lot of serials to work out, but it could be done.

Someone with accessibility to new twitter and bluesky should post this. Maybe Newsome will see it

Nonsense. They hate California.

What does that have to do with anything. They hate California yes, but their greedy palms always have their hands out taking money from Californians.

the only problem with that map is that parts of PA and VA would likely want in...and what would happen to the college football conferences? Because that matters to a lot of MAGAs.

The big problem with the map is Colorado and New Mexico. They would want to join California but are cut off. Maybe a deal could be reached with Mexico for free movement? Texas has a very strong independent movement. They will not join California movement to Canada but would leave at the same time.

I think most people would be very excited and supportive of this.

Nevada would reluctantly go with California, securing Vegas. Texas would break off separately taking Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and maybe Utah to make their own union. Broke down Oklahoma might beg to join them so as it not get left behind.
