New Yorkers are now on a suicide mission. |
Seeing the zionists flip out is bringing a tear to my eye. |
|
I’m with neither side. Both are evil. Now, who exactly will pay for all the endless freebies? |
Wait, you think only zionists can think it's a bad idea to vote in a socialist whose primary policy position is a promise of Oprah Winfrey like giveaways? |
I didn’t vote for mamdani but why would he be so bad? |
He isn't really, nothing he's proposed is particularly dramatic or city-ruining, this is like 70% an inter-generational battle over cultural influence and 30% people getting worked up by their poor choices in media consumption. |
If you really think this then you're not paying attention. |
Thanks for proving my point. |
The general election is going to be interesting. Usually the Dem nominee automatically wins. I am not sure that will happen this time. I suspect Rs are annoyed with themselves for not having a primary and just giving their nomination to Sliwa.
I would have said six weeks ago that Adams couldn't possibly win reelection. Now I wonder. And it is always possible that Cuomo will run in the general election too. Today--Friday--is the last day for Cuomo to get his name off the ballot in the general election. He can drop out later, but if he does his name will be on the printed ballot. At least one of his big money donors is pressuring Cuomo to drop out so it can be one "moderate" vs Mamdani. I think Bloomberg must be stunned. He poured so much money into trying to stop Mamdani. I think Mamdani won in part because voters are just fed up with corruption. And if it's Mamdani vs Adams the same thing may happen. Mamdani may win not because the majority of voters agree with his policy proposals but because he has less baggage than Adams AND ICE is a major issue in this city and the feds have Adams ' cooperation because the charges against him were dismissed without prejudice so Adams won't stand up to the feds. If he wins and he's smart he'll make Lander chief deputy mayor and keep Jessica Tisch as police commissioner. That would calm down the finance bros. |
Agree with much of this. I think the power brokers are deciding either that Adams is the guy and better be all in and quit the shenanigans, or Cuomo is the guy and Adams needs to drop out. General election is not ranked choice so splitting the anti-Mamdani vote between Adams and Cuomo hands the election to Mamdani (I actually think Walden is OK but he realistically has no chance and is a wasted vote). I think Trump and ICE are evil. But I don't think Mamdani has the experience, gravitas or credibility to do something about it. Cuomo has the cajones to perhaps stand up and say no. Mamdani acts like this change agent but he has no idea how the game is played and will fold like a cheap suit. That is the problem that all of his worshippers don't recognize. Tisch better keep whatever job she wants. The only downside of this for Mamdani is that he is grooming his successor. She will be an excellent mayor. All of the people who cannot accept her because she is rich really need to get the chips off their shoulders. She is not just helicoptering in and running for mayor. She is rolling up her sleeves and doing the dirty work and learning how the city works and making tough decisions. She could be sitting in Southampton eating bon bons but instead is working hard to make the city a better place. Sorry she isn't ghetto enough for everyone else. Guess what - their guy Mamdani went to Bank Street for K-8 (tuition is now $70k) and Bowdoin for college - he conveniently only mentions Bronx Science. Not exactly raised on the mean streets of New York either. |
Yeah the Bronx Science thing was a silly attempt to curry favor with the Bronx itself, where he was crushed in the primary. |
The Bronx Science thing was an attempt to reassure parents that while he would like to see some reform to the specialized high school admissions process (which could, in fact, use some) he is himself a specialized high school alum and doesn't want to eliminate them altogether like some Democrats (<cough>De Blasio</cough>![]() |
Not directed at you. I really don't like Mamdani. But I am also annoyed by the parents who are completely obsessed with what the mayoral candidates and other candidates will do with SHSAT schools. The mayor has almost no control over it. There are these one issue voter groups (like PLACE, which is a nightmare) that ignore everything else. Half these people's kids won't even get in because their parents are too busy whining rather than educating their little snowflakes. I'm a public school parent who turned down a really good SHSAT placement because we visited and it was full of exactly that type of family and my kid wanted nothing to do with it. Mamdani pushed the Bronx Science connection to act like he is a working class product of NYC public schools who is super smart because he went to Bronx Science. All of these outer borough immigrants aspire to have their kids go there so he lived the dream (except for the Asian kids who are considered losers for going there because it means they didn't get into Stuy, which brings great shame on their families). Because no one who supports him has ever heard of Bowdoin (which is a really great school) and it would make him sound like an elitist snob. Meanwhile he didn't go to public schools K-8 even though he likely had very good ones at his disposal living near Columbia. Man of the people my backside. |
1. The K-5 publics around Columbia aren’t very good. That’s why G&T programs were so popular as was Ascension, when it was still open, and also in part why Columbia opened its own K-8 school. 2. I am a former G&T parent who considers candidates based on their positions on G&T and SHS. As a parent leader, I saw how politicians demonized the families and the programs for their own political purposes. I would never vote for anyone who scapegoats children for the problems caused by adults. I hate Brad Lander. How someone who grew up in suburban St. Louis with a lawyer Dad comes here and tells us how to educate our children is just infuriating. I would bet that you grew up in a suburb, too. 3. I am annoyed by self-righteous jerks like you who take issue with parents involved in PLACE. They aren’t whining. They are doing, they are voting and they are advocating, which is probably a lot more than your snowflake fanny is doing. and fwiw we turned down SHSs and ElRo but I don’t come on here to brag about it like you do. And G&T parents are the ones who are insufferable? You keep forgetting to look in the mirror. And quit thinking you are superior to the Asian parents. You really need to get over yourself. 4. For now we are still a free country filled with people from all different backgrounds with all different life experiences which influence how they vote. If you have a problem with that, then you are the problem. 5. The mayor does have some control bc the Mayor appoints the Chancellor. Carranza was a disaster. |
