Do you think threatening the sovereignty of an ally nation with a pro-US government would make it more or less likely that they will turn towards China? |
I certainly hope we cut ALL trade and diplomatic (and aid!!) ties with any country in South America that allows a Chinese military base. |
Then I’d expect you’d be fine with China cutting diplomatic and economic ties with any nation with a Us military base. Germany, Greece, Japan, S Korea, Spain…. |
BINGO. |
We are the good guys. You probably hate this country so much that you don’t think so, but it is true. |
Oh the naivety and hypocrisy |
Nobody tries to break into any country but western democracies All the others are repellent to humanity |

Panama is trying to play both sides against the middle. This situation is quite similar to the one with Germany. Germany wanted a cozy relationship with Russia in order to have cheap energy, and in the process, they gave Russia a foothold into central Europe via the pipeline. Trump repeatedly warned Germany off of its Russia ties, pressured it to increase ties with NATO, etc. At the time, it was a scandal. Now everyone sees it's right. Remember that pipeline blew up? It'd be a shame if something like that happened in Panama. No one wants that. Now, try to focus on these issues and don't give a lazy response like "Trump loves Russia!" Because everything I wrote about how it went down with Germany is widely available information that you can Google. We should not wait for the situation with China in Latin America get so out of control that explosions happen. We will do things a lot more offensive than a mean tweet in that case. |
Okay, so you understand. The US isn't a passive player on the international stage. We will invade, coerce, etc in defense of our nation and western civilization. We will even... tweet. |
And I acknowledge that I did not directly answer your question. So in follow up- it will make them more likely to turn away from China and toward us. The last time we invaded Panama and arrested it's leadership, it really improved relationships. But. Here we are again, so we need to take action again. I would not characterize Panama as an ally as you repeatedly have. They are a client state. |
This is such a feckless and lazy retort. It’s so threadbare from overuse. Anyone still using the phrase “you sound unhinged” should be ridiculed and made fun of for being intellectual slob they are. Much as with the word “racist”, “unhinged” doesn’t even have any real meaning anymore because it’s been so totally and completely overused and misapplied by the left. Everything they take issue with, oppose or dispute is now “unhinged”. FFS, will someone buy them a thesaurus for Christmas or Chanukah? There’s a whole language out there to make use of! |
+1 I don't know why I even bother on this thread. The leftists provide no analysis, examples, historical context. I'm out here doing charity work, educating the dumb and blind, while they rotate through the same set of left-approved insults. |
I would love for China to cut diplomatic and economic ties with those nations. That would be an outstanding development for the US. |
Panama has had a drought, water is expensive.
The increase in fees is justified and the long line of ships waiting to cross is just a symptom of the water shortage. Does Trump know a magical rain dance that would allow US ownership of the canal to fix the issue? |
