Why did Kamala lose ?

Weird how +20 million Democrats just disappeared in a single election from 2020 to 2024

Super duper strange man...

Joe Biden got 81 million votes

Kamala got 60?

Super lax mail in voting rules during the pandemic probably had something to do with that.

Man, I hate to say this because I love Joe Biden and greatly appreciate his service to the country for so many years. But we elected him with the understanding that he would not run for reelection. If Kamala, or possibly another candidate, would have had an entire campaign season, things might have been different.

Because she’s a woman. That’s the bottom line.

-lenient with illegal immigration
-tremendous impopularity of refugee cities whose budgets have been impacted by dealing with flood of migrants
-emphasis on wokeness, trans issues, DEI (all things that I care about but average person does not)
-perception that Trump will bring more blue collar jobs back home
-tremendous impopularity of Biden
-handling of Israel/Gaza war

+1. And Biden calling people “garbage” a week before the election didn’t help either (though I thought her response and distance to his comments was good).

Trump was calling Pierre ricans garbage a week before the election, called for the suppression of the free press, and for Liz Cheneys execution all in the past week. Not sure why Dems are judged on a double standard. The question isn’t why Kamala lost - it’s why did trump win despite all of his disqualifying factors including counted felonies, staging a coup, being twice impeached for quid pro quo and trying to obstruct democracy, his general vileness and all the other corruption of his first term.

And I honestly have no idea. I am completely puzzled. Trump is a disaster of a candidate. My best guess is that voters just didn’t “like” Kamala for the same reasons they didn’t “like” Hillary- deeply rooted misogyny. The war in Gaza also likely fractured democratic support, not unlike Bernie bros in 2016.

Voters are angry with the status quo and Trump is an agent of change. Will it be the change they want and will congress go along with it?

Who knows.

I'm pretty confident that the ukranian conflict will end though, maybe before he gets into office.

I am curious how they eventually spin this. Do they finally admit what they did and throw Joe and the old timers under the bus, or just try to ignore it?

Interesting take.

Yet many black voters also opted for Trump…and voiced concerns about immigration and funding being diverted from helping blacks to helping immigrants.

I think there is some truth there. But it would have to have been a man. Trumps base would never roll to a woman candidate.

And often racist.

And have bias against certain races and ethnicities and religions.

And ICYMI: not only immigrants who become citizens and vote are Latino.

I think the influx of Asians, middle eastern/muslim, African, etc. immigrants and voters (1st Gen particularly) means more conservative voters…obviously.

This! Your average immigrant has more in common with an evangelical working class conservative than the college educated white collar liberals who post on this forum claiming to represent their interests.

That’s because your average immigrant learned his skills from a white working man 10 to 20 years ago and picked up their values.

Misogyny united a lot of different groups.

If she didn’t have the balls to win, she doesn’t have the balls to challenge the election. A weak sister.

People who don’t normally pay attention were not excited about either candidate and we are four years removed from the total chaos that was the end of the last administration that they weren’t as excited to vote. So people stayed home. The ballot stuffing canard is another right wing talking point based on innuendo and lies.

+1

He should have stepped down earlier to allow for a primary. Back then I admit I didn't realize how necessary that step was.
