grammys 2024

Miley does not promote herself as a role model for kids - she acts trashy all the time, so no big difference. She was at least honest with her trashiness.

+1. Parents, teach your children to acknowledge older people. Meryl and Celine were totally ignored, and both are LEGENDS.
Miley was probably overwhelmed by the win, but Taylor has no excise at this point.

+1, Miley's never won a Grammy before. Taylor has won 12 times before. There is no excuse for her weirdness tonight, IMO. Especially when she gets lauded all the time for being "classy" and what a great role model she is. She's not a kid anymore, she needs to stop acting like one.

I must have missed this. How?

I thought so too. She barely acknowledged her.

My 13 yo said she thought it was fine fwiw.

Isn’t Celine sick? Maybe she was being accommodating to her disorder. Can Celine even respond back?

Celine has stiff person syndrome or something. She is in her senses and was waiting to be acknowledged and Taylor does not respect a woman who has been in the music industry for ages. Her time will come too when the younger ones diss her. Karma is a b****

They are all worth billions. Do they need to be worshiped as well? And Celine has never had the reputation for being disrespectful?

I loved the Joni Mitchell performance.

It doesn't matter what Celine did or didn't do before. We are talking about what Taylor did tonight.
Even my almost 5 year old kid (then) knew to shake hands and say thank you to the preschool teacher when receiving her graduation certificate. And this is an adult we are talking about here.

Celine has always had a reputation as a diva but like most in that category (Aretha, Mariah, Whitney, etc.) she's also gracious and polite when being celebrated. I can't imagine any of those women running up on stage for their 13th Grammy award like a small child being offered a free ice cream cone, careening around and then grabbing the award from a living legend's hands without acknowledging her. If you want to be at that level, learn to have *presence.* Taylor has none. She is very immature.

I love Taylor’s music. I saw the Eras Tour in the US and am going again in Europe this summer, but I have to say her behavior tonight was so disappointing. She needs to calm down and she needs to grow up.

Seriously. It's embarrassing.

I love Lana del Rey (would have picked her album over Midnights of AotY) but Taylor calling her "a legend" and a "legacy artist" but for whom other female artists would not be where they are right now...

...after ignoring Celine mothereffing Dion is the kind of Millenial ADHD energy that makes people hate us.

Do better, Taylor.

I am totally Taylor neutral and I thought her first acceptance speech was smug.

Fantastic!

I first hear this yesterday and it’s so good. I’m glad I heard the studio version first but the performance was still great.

Yep. That moment was Taylor being her immature, greedy, self-absorbed self in a nutshell. Gotta keep those parasocial relationships going. And Lana's album should have won. Or boygenius. Or almost any of them really.
Save us the silly replies about "haters", folks. It's okay to have different opinions about Taylor posted. It's going be okay, really.

Tears from me for that and for Tracy Chapman.

Can someone explain the death montage? It was like four separate things and went on for an hour. And god bless Stevie but “The Best is Yet to Come” was a REALLY WEIRD choice for an in memoriam segment and there were some technical issues maybe? I don’t love Jimmy Buffett but he was out there in his own as a transition between things? Just disjointed as hell.
