Where are the articles? Does FCPS say what they plan to do? |
At least all of her kids are in high school now, so FCPS can be done with all of her insane and frequent records requests. I know that one school that her kids attended had cake when the last kid moved on to the next school— and it had nothing to do with her children and everything to do with her. I once held the door for her as she carried out boxes of produced material and she glared at me and opened a different door herself. She is a real peach. |
So which dumbaxz gave her the files? |
Isn't this how she make$ her livelihood? |
I find it laughable that you say you're a lawyer, but you clearly didn't bother reading the article before commenting. You look silly... try not being so arrogant. This breach comes on the heels of at least a dozen smaller breaches, and another major breech from 2020 when they were hacked by MAZE. After the 2020 breach, a county judge ruled against Fairfax in a case related to leaked student records and Faitfax found themselves the subject of a federal civil rights probe by the government due to the hundreds of thousands of FERPA violations that Fairfax has incurred over the past 5 years. From the governor on down, Fairfax County Public Schools were made aware on numerous occasions that they were to get their house in order or else -- the governor even earmarked all of the funds they would need to correct the breaches, upgrade their system and get in compliance with securing students info. And as of this year, it's STILL a major point of contention because it STILL HASN'T BEEN DONE. |
Maybe FCPS needs to hire her, it seems like she knows more about privacy laws than the school system does. |
The whole district is incompetent. They do not know where their own as$holes are. |
Well, the positives could be outlining the growth towards a goal…which should be discussed. |
But parents are not listed on the employment contract as “employer”, so in actually you are not. |
If you only have growth towards a goal to discuss it’s just a fancy way to say you probably didn’t do your job. You either greatly overestimated the child’s abilities or are just now realizing they didn’t achieve the goal and are talking your way around why it’s good news that they’re at least making progress. What you should be talking about is why the child didn’t achieve the goal and why you haven’t suggested changes until the IEP meeting. You should be focused on the new proposed goals and how to achieve those. |
Teachers pay taxes, so by that logic are they also their own employers? |
Schools shouldn’t be forced to give any extra attention to special needs students. 504s and IEPs should be eliminated. |
So you’ll be ok with your 5th grader being in a classroom with a child the same age but learning on a preschool level? What about a child that needs their diaper needs changed, would you be ok if your Larlo gives up instruction time for it? What about a child that engages in self-injurious behavior. Are you ok with little Timmy banging his head into the wall? Do you mind if the teacher stops teaching your little Larlo after they see blood, or would that be too much extra attention? What about a student that needs sign language interpretation? Are you ok if the teacher talks in sign during class? What about if they need a Brailler? You good if the teacher spends time during class making tests in Braille at the expense of teaching little Larlo? What if the kid has Tourette’s, you good with the kid sqwaking the entire time? What if the child has PICA, you good if they eat your kid’s pencils? What if they choke on one of those pencils- is Larlo to blame because he didn’t put his pencil away? What if they have seizures, too much extra attention if teacher prevents them from hitting their head and has to run seizure protocol? |
Special needs parents are going to bleed public schools dry.
—————vast majority of funding for these students is from the feds. Without it, schools would shut down. Why? Because even 1 SN student in a category/classroom/school opens up funds to be used for every student (SN or not). Examples - Equipment for recess, copy paper, after school activities, etc. So thank your lucky stars these kids exist. I think some parents are frustrated and upset that their child has struggles and it’s easier to direct those feelings outward in the form of anger at teachers and schools, than to come to terms with the reality that there’s only going to be so much that anyone can do to help. ———— You’re not wrong about the frustration and anger part. And there likely ARE parents not facing the music, but the majority just want the services specified in IEP/504 to be implemented, implemented properly, and to receive info on how things are going. Transparency. Schools shouldn’t be forced to give any extra attention to special needs students. 504s and IEPs should be eliminated. ————- by this account, gifted students shouldn’t receive extra attention either. They’re in “special education” too. |
