It sounds like the data breach was an awful decision by Brookland. |
No, upper management is not from DC. Paragon does not have younger age groups. Do not mention them again. They seemed to be decent at one point but that horse is now dead. |
A person made that awful decision, not some entity. The same person that looked kids in the eyes and taught them the game of soccer. The same person that smiled at parents, glad-handing colleagues and others in their orbit. This is unfortunately part and parcel to the system of soccer in the USA. Integrity is just marketing fluff when the people you prop up do this to you. Yep, DCSC is complicit, because you reap what you sow. |
Unfortunately, if you think a general lack of integrity is limited to U.S. soccer, I have some bad news for you about the international professional game. |
There is so much speculation on this, and the people who know what happened - with the split, the contacts, etc. - aren't going to post details on an anonymous message board. Given that an entire local club's worth of families came into DCSC from BKFC, it doesn't seem like the former BK families' contact information was stolen or accessed by any kind of "breach." It may be tacky to use DCSC systems to contact your former club's members; it could be that TW turned over his contacts in the merger, or maybe not. What is VERY clear is that DCSC labeling this as a "data breach" gives them an immediate upper hand in a tit for tat who said what. It won't matter what did or didn't happen, it matters that DCSC's statement was delivered more forcefully with a louder microphone, and they could send it out to a wider audience than any of the families TW may have contacted about his upcoming departure or future plans. No one looks good in this situation, except for whoever had the idea to control the narrative and make the former BK coaches sound nefarious by labeling this as a data breach. |
I received the email from TW even though my kid has never been part of BKFC. |
Me too. My kids have only done rec and not on the Brookland side of the league. |
What leagues are they going to play in ? They won’t be in NCSL or ECNL unless they merge with another club
EDP ? Lots of traveling ? |
That certainly sounds like a data breach to me. |
And we were part of BKFC before DCSC, and we didn't receive any emails about a new club. This seems weird. |
This is a lot of drama. I'm trying to catch up between this thread and emails we've received from DCSC.
I'm sure someone can correct me with better info, but it sounds like: - TW & coaches formed BKFC, operated for some number of years and then brought their club into DCSC with some promised made about fields, tournaments and playing opps. TW & coaches get new titles, teams don't get fields or playing opps. People aren't happy. - TW sends an email saying he'll be parting ways (posted here some time in April?). - DCSC sends email. Gives: not mad, just disappointed. - An email (?) is sent to some families about another club from formed by the BKFC coaching crew. Some families get this, some don't. - No formal announcement has been about any of the BKFC coaches, and they all appear to be DCSC employees. - DCSC sends email about integrity, calls these other emails a data breach. - Confusion ensues, rumors swirl. Did I miss something else? This sounds like a messy breakup. No one looks good in this. It doesn't seem like this is the first messy ending for DCSC (a settlement or something five years ago? Another one before that?). Was there a way that BKFC could have left without it being messy? Like they brought families into DCSC, and there were relationships to consider. What would have kept it more amicable? I didn't receive all of these referenced emails from TW or marketing a new club. In the absence of more info, tt seems aggressive for DCSC to go after the coaches in a way that smears their integrity in an email labeled "integrity first." |
Yes, maybe they only made off with a partial list and then just blasted what they had. Whatever the circumstances, each is going their own way. Perhaps those interested in the new BKAC entity can start a new thread. I think a lot of interest here is in evaluating offers and getting feedback regarding DCSC. |
We were one of the Brookland families that came over via the merger with DCSC with a promise for better field access and resources. It's been a huge disappointment. We actually lost access to turf fields and our kids team has been on a mostly dirt "grass" DPR field for the last 2 seasons with no lights and late practices (until 8:30pm). Any rain means that DPR grass fields are closed so we've lost a huge percentage of practices (unlike the teams that practice on turf, which stay open). DCSC has not been at all responsive to asks for better field distribution, and since the merger, we've gotten worse fields and less communication (other than fundraisers).
Our hope in making the move was that DCSC was changing its longtime history of mostly serving wealthy upper NW families to open up resources across the city, and I think the clear answer for us was "no, it's not". |
It doesnt' matter if BFC had the data before, they signed a deal that meant it's not their data to play with anymore. So, it's a breach. |
How do you know that? |
