Can someone explain how DeSantis ever wins?

I agree with you 100%. And yes, he is a bad debater. But I still feel like if he gets the nomination he'd wipe the floor with Biden. Joe's main strength in 2020 was "not being an orange clown" and without that advantage he's lost and confused.

DeSantis is running to the right of the orange clown and has zero desire or means to move toward the middle in a general. He’s as radioactive for independents as Trump is.

Exactly. I don't know if it's Democratic panic or Republican delusion driving the Desanyis could win narrative, but he does not have what it takes to win nationally. the 2020 elections and 2022 showed us that Americans will come out in numbers to reject crazy far right wingers

Just because you label him a "crazy far right winger" doesn't make him so. He's smart and previous attempts to tear him down have failed.

Are you able to list three tangible "things" (for lack of better word) that prove your point about his crazy right-wing bonafides?

NP:
Anti-vax campaign, including hiring a nutjob as the state surgeon general and pushing for a grand jury investigation
Using state power to punish Disney for its political views/statements
Illegally removing an elected prosecutor for his speech (as confirmed by a federal judge)

LOL.
These are not far-right positions.
He was NOT against the vaccine, BTW. He was against mandates. Still is. And, there are millions of us who agree with him on that.

And, as for Disney.... yeah. When you start to embed gender crap in programming for kids.... watch out.

And, the prosecutor was not doing his job. He was refusing to prosecute those who had broken laws.

Surprise surprise, the RWNJ doesn’t think that far right positions are far right. I’m shocked.

So electric stoves are "woke liberal bullshit" now or something? LOTS of people have electric stoves. Many of us don't have gas hookups, many of us live in apartments where there are only outlets for electric stoves.

This is complete idiocy on his part. He is absolutely deranged with these games he's playing.

First of all, he never said any of the crap you're attributing to him. It is you, in fact, who sounds completely deranged with your overwrought reaction.

Nope. You aren't paying attention. He literally passed an "anti woke" bill. He's attacking CRT and many other things and calling them out as "woke." Connect the dots. It's all part of a major theme he's pushing.

Psst: I am fully aware of everything DeSantis is doing and I support it. CRT deserves to be attacked, as do many other parts of the woke agenda.

Of course, his racist pandering is targeted to people just like you who want Blacks to shut up and stay in their place.

DP (who is a Democrat) - this is a reductive view and is a perfect example of why swing voters are turned off by progressive rhetoric. Disagreeing with the DEI/“woke” policies and orthodoxy that have been pushed over the past few years, especially in blue areas, doesn’t make someone a racist. It’s bad logic and also not a winning message.

So you admit it. Then stop trying to peddle this bullshit:

Because, trying to deny something you know to be true while calling the person calling it out as "deranged" is textbook gaslighting. Just stop already. Clumsy gaslighting of this sort makes you look foolish, manipulative and mentally unwell.

You mean the way liberals (you) have gaslighted the nation about the crisis at the border? Or inflation? “nOtHiNg tO sEe hErE!” Gaslighting like that? Oh. Yes, that indeed proves you to be foolish, manipulative, and mentally unwell.

I guess you didn’t learn in 2016 that referring to millions of people as stupid is not a winning strategy. Good luck to you - sounds like you’ll need it.

Republicans seem to be delusional about how popular or unpopular sitting dem presidents actually are. They said the same thing about anyone running against Obama and Clinton before him. Unemployment is at record lows, inflation has eased, we're not at war- things are good

+1. I used to prioritize being pro-choice, and I didn't like DeSantis. Then the libs kept schools closed and called me a racist for wanting my kids to go to school and have lower crime. I now realize that there are higher priorities that affect my family every day.

Completely agree - and I used to be a one issue voter (pro-choice). No longer.

Keep telling yourself that everything is peachy keen. Shows you are truly in an elite liberal bubble.

Poll finds 71% of Americans believe country is on wrong track

The 71% of Americans in our latest NBC News poll saying the country is headed in the wrong direction is the eighth time in the last nine NBC News surveys dating back to Oct. 2021 when the wrong track has been above 70%.

And the one exception was in Sept. 2022, when it was 68%.

We have never before seen this level of sustained pessimism in the 30-year-plus history of the poll.

Including during the 1992 recession, when a year of NBC/WSJ polls had the wrong track between 67% and 71% before improving right after the presidential election.

Or the Great Recession of 2008, when Barack Obama’s election and inauguration ended a year of NBC/WSJ polls of the wrong track being near or above 70%.

But this current pessimism has been going on for nearly a year and a half — even after an election.

“Elections are supposed to act as a chance to refresh and reset, and that did not happen [after the 2022 midterms],” said Republican pollster Bill McInturff, the GOP half of the NBC News poll.

Why do you think that is Biden or the democrats? It is the republicans and Fox News that scares people.

DP. Hmm, looks like someone needs help interpreting the pretty chart that’s included in the linked article.

Voters in the center, like yourself, broke clearly for DeSantis in the last FL election. His support grew from 49% to 59% in just 4 years.

The national media noticed and is busy to promote paranoia and conspiracy theories against him to prevent the same from happening countrywide.

They got worried about Rubio for a minute and were posting desperate articles about his wife getting speeding tickets, and Rubio owning a luxury yacht, which turned out to be a small speedboat.

Is this is a good faith question? Desantis embraces the culture wars and the far right talking points. He loves them...lives by them.

Here's a list.

Gerrymandering
Disney retaliation
Stop WOKE act
Falsely arresting so-called vote fraudsters
Replacing a college's admin with unqualified far-right ideologues
Book banning
Permitless carry

These are not even remotely moderate or previous Republican positions. This is far right wing Looney toons.

And punitive taxes for buying electric stoves instead of gas stoves

Fact: 92% of Floridians use electric stoves. https://www.eia.gov/consumption/residential/data/2020/state/pdf/State%20Appliances.pdf

DeSantis's attack on electric stoves makes little practical sense. It's little more than DeSantis's version of "coal rolling" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_coal

Oh calm the hell down. Nobody's coming in jackboots to kick down your grandma's door to hold her at gunpoint while they cart off her gas stove right in the midst of baking cookies. The only thing that's ever been proposed is a gradual, longer term phase-out of gas stoves.

First, hardly anyone in Florida has gas stoves.
Second, the concern around gas stoves isn’t about climate change. It’s about indoor air quality when they’re not properly vented that’s making people sick. But Floridians don’t seem to mind getting sick to own the libs so please proceed, Governor.

Gas stoves are linked to childhood onset of asthma as well as onset of cancers in adults. https://nypost.com/2022/09/14/gas-stoves-linked-to-asthma-in-children-adult-cancers-scientist-warns/

I used to joke that RW NJ's would beat their own heads bloody against a brick wall if it made libs cringe. Every time I turn around there's yet another thing that tells me I wasn't far from the mark.
