He did. He implemented very similar policies to most EU countries. The real mystery is how the blue states got it so wrong. Aren't they supposed to be more educated or something? |

Are you looking at any of his policies outside of culture war and COVID stuff? The Florida property insurance market is collapsing on his watch and the only thing he pleaded was that the insurance companies wait to withdraw from the market until after the 2022 election. He did not opt into the Medicaid expansion and as a result, there is a huge problem with uninsured seeking medical care in Florida. He has no solutions for increased intensity of climate change on Florida's coasts. If you look at his "landslide" win, I think it's a bit misleading since there has been a massive influx of Republicans from the Northeast and Midwest (many looking to escape sensible COVID policies during and after the pandemic and found a state that didn't require mask mandates). That and combined with natural migration of retirees from places with good jobs but higher taxes and costs of living to places with better climates and lower taxes. I wouldn't read too much into his win since Florida is a bit of an outlier because of this. |
Straw man. I did not say stupid. I said Republicans were good at marketing. And misinformed or lied to does not equal being stupid. Combine that with some social conservatism, and Republicans have a winning recipe. However, no matter how you spin it, American notions of socialism are NOT the same as authoritarian Venezuelan or Cuban style "socialism," but low information voters and disingenuous opportunists will continue to make erroneous links between the two. |
Thanks to the Cuban Adjustment Act, they have a very different experience with immigration and asylum claims than any other group of immigrants |
Wow, ad hominem attacks, a surefire way to show you have nothing of value to add. Florida is not a swing state anymore and hasn't been for a few cycles. But keep being low information. https://www.vox.com/midterm-elections-2022/2022/11/11/23452549/midterm-elections-2022-results-florida-republicans-red-wave-swing-state "Florida went red in 2020, with Trump improving on his margin from 2016 against Hillary Clinton. There’s been a rightward shift among Hispanic voters in the state, particularly in the Cuban and Venezuelan communities around the once-Democratic stronghold of Miami. And the Republican Party apparatus in Florida has ballooned during the Trump years as the former president made his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach the “Winter White House.” “If I put all of that into a bag and shake it up, I’m not pulling out the word ‘battleground,’” said Sean Shaw, a former Democratic member of the statehouse and 2018 nominee for Florida attorney general. “I think we are, right now, a red state or at least leaning-pretty-heavily red.” https://theweek.com/florida/1018331/why-florida-is-no-longer-a-swing-state "Is Florida still a swing state? Well, it seems the general consensus is no … but the exact reason for and proof of the GOP tilt has generated plenty of discussion" https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/graphics/2022/11/26/florida-swing-state-to-red-state-desantis-republicans/10708803002/ |
See, you do think Cuban Americans are stupid... When the fact is that they are among the best educated and most successful minorities in our country.... You should be asking how come such a smart group is crossing lines. |
I don't think Cuban Americans are stupid, but I am beginning to suspect you are (or a purposeful disingenuous troll) if you don't know the difference between low information and stupid. Fow now, I will assume you are just low information and give you some, you know, information. Low information=ignorant of facts NOT stupid. " Ignorance and stupidity are often conflated, but they are in fact two very different things. A smart person can still be ignorant about many things. No matter how smart we are, all of us are ignorant about the vast majority of the information out there" https://fee.org/articles/voters-are-ignorant-not-stupid/ |
So cute. Go and grab a few beers with some Cuban American friends...they'll be happy to provide you with the information you're lacking. And in two languages! |
| Racism is very popular in at least half of the states. |
You had the chance to get rid of them yet you invaded them. #smart |
If they try to argue that Bernies Sander's idea of socialism is the same as Castro's or Maduro's, I would conclude that they are low information and fell for Republican marketing. I would say they are still very much influenced by cold war narratives of how dictatorships happen under democratic leadership. I would not try to argue against whatever social values may influence their vote. But. Sigh. I am kind of done with you. You have not said one thing of any substance yet---only insults and half-baked implications |
+1 -Floridian. |
Stupid is as stupid does. No need for Democrats to pander to stupidity. |
| I won't vote for DeSantis because his use of government position to meddle in the affairs of private business is pretty fascist. |
