Lindsey Graham to introduce federal abortion ban

Anonymous
I really just can't get over the fact that Republicans took a look at how women, and even some non-women, are reacting to Dobbs - and thought, YES, now is the moment to introduce a federal abortion ban. That's how we'll ride this red wave!

I changed your wording to reflect the truth and the answer to your question. Because it does not matter to them. Quality of life, happiness, health, education, freedom - literally none of this matters to forced birthers. It’s why they don’t care about poisoned water in specific cities or a dead, poisoned earth in general. It’s why they hate public schooling and why they fight anything that might get health care costs out of the stratosphere and down where people can actually see a doctor regularly rather than in the ER.

Because it isn’t about life, it’s about punishing women.

I think it's about punishing children as well. The death cult doesn't only want women to suffer. It's necessary but not sufficient, if women suffer.

I actually think they think it's a net good if people are forced to give birth, then everyone has a miserable quality of life after that. If they die of a preventable childhood disease, or even better - the mother dies giving birth, then the child dies of a preventable childhood disease - even better. Death cult needs its blood.

This is a wake up call. I don’t know how many women in blue states I have talked to who are like la La La th this won’t impact me. They are coming for us all.

+1 They said they were going to do this if they got a trifecta in 2025 but it’s nice to have them trying to start early prior to the midterms.

The GOP is definitely doing this. They are coming for all of us, they don't really believe in "states rights" at all.

Trying to figure out the political calculus. Does Graham think this positions him to be the next Minority Leader if Dems hold the Senate? Is this his answer to the Rick Scott Show?

I’m not sure but rest assured there are a number of GOP Senators who hate Rick Scott right now. That guy blasted out a platform that was all about eliminating Social Security and Medicare, made his NRSC head position into a pre-presidential campaign, and has squandered tens of millions in fundraising.

Yes there must be something in it for Miz Linz. To distract from scandals? To cost Republican rivals their seats? To become popular with the pro life crowd? Setting up a future run?

Oh they believe in "state's rights" for sure. They believe it in the original sense from back in the Civil War when "state's rights" really meant "state's right," the right to allow human beings to own other human beings.

Now make no mistake, they'd go back to outright chattel slavery for black and brown people if they thought they could get away with it, but since they know that toothpaste is out of the tube they're settling for owning women's bodies, owning people and forcing them to work unpaid via the criminal justice system, owning workers via wage slavery and literally holding their lives hostage by tying healthcare to your job and refusing to implement universal healthcare. It's the Republican way - keep people pregnant, poor, sick, and compliant to squeeze every cent of profit out of them for their corporate overlords.

I saw an analysis on Twitter that it's a strategy to allow GOP candidates in tight races to pick the side that's best for them - those in conservative states will say, we can still ban it totally and those in less conservative states will point to the 15 weeks as a compromise position.

If it does I’m sure the red states will prosecute the women for it.
