Lindsey Graham to introduce federal abortion ban

+1 This needs to sink in.

Prolife won’t agree to anything but I am a Republican woman from a long line of republican women (from the north, all college educated) and I want abortion legal but not unfettered. This will force democrats to own that some of them want unlimited abortion. By 15 weeks you know — that is 3 plus months in— so this means that after 15 weeks it’s off limits. But after that, the baby should have the chance. But this is about flushing out the liars and extremists in the pro abortion lobby. 12 is too soon, 20 is too late. 15 is the sweet spot and it’s going to have an impact.

Abortion has never been "unfettered" in the US. Never. Not even for a day.

People seek out abortions after 20 weeks because of fetal anomalies, because of danger to the mother's health. These are tragedies. And Americans are smart enough to know that. There is no pandemic of women 20+ weeks pregnant, or even 15+ weeks pregnant, deciding willy-nilly to end their pregnancy.

The vast majority of abortions happen in the first trimester.

You'd like to force women to go through 40 weeks of carrying a fetus that is going to die upon birth. Or force a woman to carry a doomed fetus until it is about to kill her, rather than letting her terminate at a much safer point for herself and her future fertility. And Americans who care about women aren't any having any of it.

YOU are the extremist here.

It is unfettered in Colorado. Completely legal for any reason until birth. Do your homework

26 weeks for any reason. Up to 34 weeks for things like genetic disorder.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK BETTER.

And those cost like $25k. So how many women are doing that for funsies?? Answer: NONE.

Why are forced birthers so obtuse and have no care or empathy towards these women going through horrific situations?

The ones I know can’t admit they’re wrong. They’ve railed against abortion and its evils for years. If they admit they’re wrong now, that means they’ve been wasting their time, loudly spouting off to anyone who’ll listen, offending people, calling women and their doctors murderers, and it’s all been unjustified. Does that mean they’re jerks? Gullible? Uneducated? Unintelligent? Does this mean their religious and political leaders were wrong? Did these leaders know they were spreading lies or were they duped too? Does that mean the leaders were corrupt or dumb? If they were wrong about this, what else might they be wrong about? It’s easier to dig in and have faith that this issue will never affect them personally than it is to be introspective.

You are so correct. Republicans don't have enough votes to make this pass. No one seems to realize that 15 weeks is before most genetic testing. Prepare for more Down's, spina bifida, cystic fibrosis without any new government funding to help families cope. I bet if you asked Lindsey, he thinks women are pregnant for 30 weeks since he called 15 weeks late term. I do know this has awakened my independent voter sister-in-law who seldom votes. I wonder how many other women are finally paying attention. The GOP is so screwed in all the close contests in November.

Lindsey was nervous and sweaty in his press conference. I don't think he wanted to present this. The kompromat is forcing him. Something bigger is about to drop.

How much of a pedophile does Graham have to be to craft a bill that presumes young children consented to sex until demonstrated otherwise by law enforcement. He is a sick piece of shit.

If this is the case, then it won't pass, it won't gain significant support even among Republicans. It's a joke of a legislation then - it accomplishes nothing other than to anger the voting public.

Huh? I think you misread the article.

This bill will outlaw abortion in democratic states and keep all restrictions in the fascist states.

Which is what it’s intended to do: bring the blue states to heel under the first waves of christofascism.

why do the pro life people not care about giving poisoned water to the poor?

They don’t care about anything other than shoving their superstitions down everyone else’s throats. If the Sky Daddy wanted them to have clean water, he would have given it to them.

It is revenge for desegregation. They don't care about anything.
