Lia Thomas - Will this change college sports for women or a nothingburger?

This makes so much sense. I had to re-read it because I wasn’t sure if I was missing something. Honestly, it doesn’t need to be a big thing - we’ve always said “battle of the sexes” not “ genders” and given the transgender was just changed from transsexual b/c of silly American puritanical sensibilities - it makes more sense.

I am constantly amazed at how much people hate women. We made so much progress, and now people are trying to take it away. The right over our own bodies, in terms of abortion rights, our rights to compete fairly against other females, even the right to stand up for ourselves, with every time we turn around we are called Karens. Certainly there are outliers, but it is becoming more and more prevalent.

That's cool We have a real pioneer here on DCUM. So where did you go to school and when? I know the AIAW got rolling in about 1966 and added swimming in 1972. Since we started with gender issues really in about 1972-74 I am assuming that you did one of the original 4 sports right?

Transgenderism was a big issue in 1972-74? I don’t think so.

Please.. in years of youth and college sports with multiple kids, had one trans kid involved in one sport. Nice kid but able to make much of a contribution towards athletic success inspire of all those supposed super male advantages described on here. There was a team, a bunch of kids with a variety of talents and contributions....they grew up and are all now off to the next thing. No issues at all.

Ok
So since your kid didn’t have any issues, that clearly means no one else’s kids will. Such a strong point you’ve made.

The point is...you act like just being male means you are some kind of dominant athletic force. That is bull crap. Most men are not good athletes at all.

That is true, but having the male physical does level you up. In this case, a mediocre male athlete can become a star. What’s her swimming time before the surgery?

Rather than take advantage of that opening -- I will simply say there is obviously much you do not know. Perhaps it would be a good idea to do some research and learn something about the subject. Take heed of Lincoln's advice about, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."

I know! When will women learn to just shut the hell up?

I’m just glad this shows it’s fleeting. So 1972-1974 were banner years for transgenderism, maybe this insanity will end in 2022 then?

Are you talking about Renee Richards? Because aside from her, I don’t see much transgender sports controversy through the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. It appears it started in the 2000’s when the IOC drew up guidelines for athletes that had undergone sex reassignment surgery.

Well -- you are apparently a big fan of trans kids killing themselves so --- I guess you can look forward to more suicides. Obviously you want to keep that run of more trans kids killing themselves than playing a high sport going. Most rational adults want to prevent that kind of thing, but we recognize that Evil exists in the World today. We strive to work against it. Others are part of it. We will pray for you though.

There are about 5,500,000 high school athletes playing a high school sport at some level (Freshman, JV and Varsity) every year (non-covid) in the U.S. The participation numbers are over 7,000,000 a year but there are double counts and some triple counts in those numbers. A kid who plays football and baseball gets counted twice. There are about 500,000 college athletes playing a sport every year. So, about 6,000,000 high school and college athletes playing school sports every year.

And, how many trans athletes are there? MtF and FtM. About 30. Yep.

Lia is cheating by competing in womens sports. What if your female daughter trained for years to compete and lost to a male impersonating a women.

Women fought very hard to get Title 9 sports.

Yep. This takes a spot a born woman could have had.

That evil is letting children think they can change their sex. Yes, let’s pray.

So he competed for 3 year's on the men's swim team and now she's on the women's swim team and dominating. But she hasn't broken Ledecky's records yet so it's NBD. And when she does, well, she's just the better swimmer. Stronger, faster.

Let’s just do away with women’s sports altogether, then. Men are just the better swimmers- stronger, faster. Nbd.
