Government has already been proven untrustworthy. When the time is right they'll confiscate what they can ahead of moving from a soft tyranny to a hard tyranny.

100% in agreement. Absolutely.

I would have thought you were both crazy until I heard the 911 call where the mother with her small child were trapped in their vehicle on a road in the middle of a riot and the “protesters” were thumping her car and refused to let her through, but she couldn’t safely reverse either because there were also people behind her. She called 911 for help and was told that the police won’t come to help because it’s a city-sanctioned protest. Her child was crying and she was almost in tears and had to convince the operator that someone was about to get seriously hurt before they would agree to send officers. Ummm WTF???

So now I don’t trust the government either - to help us when we need help OR to be on the right side of justice.

Of course it would have been much better if she had an AR-15 and blasted her way out of there. Or if Virginia had one of those wonderful Florida laws that allows you to legally murder people with your car if they are walking in the street.

The shooting leaves Philadelphia tied with its all-time annual homicide record, which was set in 1990 amidst the crack cocaine epidemic.

Wonder how many of the 500 were shot with illegal guns, you know, the kind any controls will not help?

Not really. Stricter background checks would help. Fewer guns in circulation would mean fewer thefts, and suicides.

Not to mention the domestic murders that are pandemic in our culture.

We need to be able to trace every gun back to the point of how the criminal got it. The supply chain of guns to criminals is the problem.

If she had a gun then she would have known that they might destroy her vehicle but at least wouldn’t be able to harm her or her child if they got inside.

And the general lack of willingness from democrats to prosecute criminals for all sorts of crimes means that there are far more criminals out there at the moment. Those criminals can and do often enter people’s homes, businesses, etc. People have a right to feel safe in their own communities and especially in their own homes.

What if I just print a gun?

"Meantime, the charging rate for theft by Mr. Boudin's office declined from 62% in 2019 to 46% in 2021; for petty theft it fell from 58% to 35%. San Francisco's jail population has plummeted to 766 in 2021 from 2,850 in 2019. More than half of all offenders, and three-quarters of the most violent ones, who are released from jail before trial commit new crimes."

It’s amazing that they want to blame literally anyone and anything under the sun… EXCEPT the criminal holding the gun.

I have no problem releasing someone who was busted for a bag of weed or a first-time offender, but what utter moron thinks it's a good idea to release violent offenders and repeat offenders?

It's amazing that you want to give a complete pass to the pipelines responsible for providing guns to criminals.

This. Stop ignoring this.

Progressives in California and NYC have largely eliminated cash bail and reduced penalties for crimes while supporting efforts to defund/abolish the police.

Crime of all types is skyrocketing. The cause is clear, and it is not guns.

It’s amazing that I want to punish a violent criminal and keep them off the streets before I want to hunt down designers and manufacturers of 3D printing technology?

Until we summon the national will to outlaw guns and put everyone who won’t comply in prison for the rest of their lives thus removing them from society, nothing will change. I don’t care if we have to put 20 million people in prison for life if that’s what it takes, because that’s the only thing that will stop it.

Why don’t we start with putting the 20 million violent criminals we have loose on our streets into prison for the rest of their lives where they belong. Then guns will lose their appeal because the nonviolent people won’t feel like we need them.
