thanks for the contributing to the problem of gun violence in this country. Gullible people watch fox news and think crime is out of control, they rush out and buy a bunch of weapons of war. Some eventually have mental issues or have stress or their kids get bullied and suddenly they either turn the gun on themselves or go out and hurt a lot of people. It's just tragic at this point.

How is it hyperbolic to claim that gullible people buy guns and become a menace to society? Did you think the sandy hook mom bought guns knowing her autistic kid would go on a shooting spree. Nobody think they are a gun nutter, you all think you are “responsible” gun owners and it has done nothing to stop tragedies in this country.

I agree that it’s tragic. And the SH mom shouldn’t have been able to have the arsenal of guns she had…especially since her son was previously reported for his behavior.

As a single Black woman, however, I will not sit unarmed waiting for this country to enact common-sense gun laws. I’ve felt threatened for many years now. Unlike many others, I’m making sure I’m properly trained and educated on the use of my gun.

I also vote every damn election for people who want the same gun reform I do.

You realize that the statistics show that your gun is far more likely to be used to kill / injure someone in your home than as part of any “self defense” scenario, right?

You’d really need to see statistics where the gun is properly secured and the owner has training for that to be a fair statement.

Are you saying the NRA/Gun Lobby would be cool with those being legal requirements? Yeah, didn’t think so.

I know you're exaggerating for effect, but "more guns" does seem to be the only solution the Republicans have to offer for the uptick in violence in the US. All out war would tend to increase violence. Also, all out war against dozens of countries around the world seems like a bad idea.

It's only one thing needed - illegal possession of firearm UNLESS you enroll in a mandatory firearm class to learn gun safety and use. That's the only way you get one. That's it. So you want one - pass a test you can keep it. Background checks mandatory too but honestly that won't stop someone positively who is mentally ill from having one. But you gotta know how to store and shoot at minimum and that process and testing must be rigorous and a longer process than 2 days!
