Gun Control - Why isn't more done

Anonymous
The GOP has used religion, gun and abortion to stock up a certain percentage of the US population. They need to ensure that these are all wedge issues in order to keep their base engaged, donating and active.

So there just isn’t the demand from normal citizens to have guns to protect themselves the way they have here.

And there isn't an NRA or entrenched firearms industry lobbying and spending money to keep things the way they are.

Please the nra doesn’t have that much money, compared to what Bloomberg spends.

Yes they do.
NRA is #21 nationally in terms of political spending. https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/national-rifle-assn/summary?id=d000000082

NRA spent 30 million in 2020, meanwhile bloomberg spent 60 million

face it, it is not about money, gun control is not popular and getting less popular

support for gun control is at a historic low because the “woke” movement has successfully defunded the police in many places (DC, Baltimore, Minnesota, CA).

Not surprisingly, crime is skyrocketing.

With 911 slowly fading away, a gun is my only protection from rape or home invasion robbery.

Before you parrot it: my training and safe-storage means my gun won’t be used against me, so don’t bother trotting out your meaningless statistics from Brady.

Someone’s been watching too much Fox. Truth is, if your gun is safely stored as you say it is, it probably won’t help you during a home invasion while you’re asleep or unloading kids or groceries from the car. Attackers rarely knock.

Crime is also skyrocketing in places that have increased police funding.

Let me guess, you're the kind of genius who blames Joe Biden for the fact that the USA is experiencing the same inflation as Europe is?

#21 is far lower than I’d have previously believed. That’s actually shocking. I would’ve thought they were Top 5 based on their reputation.

They don't need to be top 5 if they have enough members who will vote based on their candidate score cards.

Apparently what's becoming more popular is not giving a damn when kids are slaughtered by gun-wielding maniacs in schools.

"Tots and pears." You're all a bunch of sick sociopaths.

1. Members of Congress (particularly in the GOP) are to the right of the public when it come to gun control laws

2. People who are anti-gun control are more energized politically than people who are pro-gun control

3. The pro-gun control lobby is heavily engaged at the Congressional level - where this isn't the place to look for the legislative change they want (this is my big frustration with Dems on many issues...they turbo charge things as a federal-discussion when in reality DC is not the place to come for desired changes).

1) you forget about the gun owning Dems
2) people who have something will fight harder to keep that something.
3) you could get rid of the pro gun lobby..people are not going to surrender their defenses.. period..

OP this is a good quick explanation:

The only death our government seems to want to prevent is that of the unborn. Become a fetus, your life will be of interest then.

Why isn't more done? Because America is a country that loves violence, has a history of violence, and has normalized violence. It is a part of our cultural DNA.

More guns! More mass shootings! Vote Republican! NRA4Ever!
