He already is, PP, by his age. |
I am so sick of the kids will be fiiiine crowd. these people are not trumpers but liberal elitists who just want to get on with things. |
But that's the point - kids are so "fine" that its possible that it may be more risky to vaccinate them than not. That's how little this virus harms kids. |
Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner! YES! That's exactly what they're saying. |
Our pediatrician recently said she thinks they will start rolling out for under 12 years old in the beginning of 2022. She said they were going really slowly with the testing for the under 12s. |
Well I read September - December timeline on 5-11 vaccines. I'm furious that my kid's teachers don't have to be vaccinated. And I'm also upset that workers in a hospital don't have to be vaccinated! I'm 38 weeks pregnant and my infant will have a heart issue. I don't want anyone around us in the hospital who is unvaccinated. I feel like I should have the ability to know and request only vaccinated health care workers around myself and my medically fragile infant. |
The hell he is. Plenty of kids have gotten COVID and many have been hospitalized. |
Can't you delivery someplace else? I know 38 weeks isn't a time people want to switch drs/hospitals but honestly this is a pretty big reason that I would. You don't even need a dr. at your new hospital of choice - you can pretty much just show up. In case you need it Ashish Jha (dean of Brown's med school) just put up a link via his twitter in the last hr or 2 with a listing of all the hospitals nationwide that are requiring vaccines for all employees. There are MANY on the east coast. |
Just saw this on another timeline:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/pfizer-and-moderna-are-expanding-vaccine-studies-of-kids-5-to-11/ar-AAMzNT9?ocid=msedgntp The fact that they are expanding their studies shows they are taking this age group seriously and are not taking the "kids are just fine" attitude. |
the number of 5-11 year olds in the trial is so small (just increased to 3000) that they aren’t even really going to be able to compare the risks of Covid to the risks of vaccination. We’re likely not going to vaccinate our 9 year old until there’s more evidence - probably 3-4 months at a minimum after the initial EUA. And I’m sure I’m not alone. The uptake is going to be very slow for kids. |
Thank you for posting this. I see Inova Alexandria is on there- I'm giving birth at another Inova, so hopefully they do have a vaccine mandate. I actually googled it this week and couldn't find anything on my hospital. |
lol, no it doesn’t. they are expanding the numbers in the trial because the risks of covid are *so low* that you need a bigger trial to even be able to discern the risks v benefits of the vaccine. It also shows that the drug companies were trying to do the least amount possible for approval, but FDA instructed them to do more. |
There aren't enough kids getting Covid in the trials (Same thing happened with Moderna) This has been discussed at length. Also if they are now "taking safety seriously" for under 11 as people have posted, then that's all the more reason to be wondering what they did with 12-15, 16, etc..
There were 1100 kids tested in that, and myocarditis now uncovered and no change other than a warning label while other countries aren't allowing. Many countries waiting for safety data or more data or just realized the risk/benefit isn't there. |
+1-- NONE of the kids trials could show efficacy because so few got Covid. Isn't anyone wondering why Moderna hasn't gotten an EUA? Because 4 kids got Covid. Most logical conclusion would be "ohhh perhaps this is not an emergency" and that seems to be where it landed. |
It's going slowly because they are trying to determine the optimal dosage. The trials are testing out various dosages for the under-11. It was much simpler for 12-15, since they only tested the existing adult dose. |
