What is the big deal! I don’t think it’s discriminating against a specific group. The fact that there is a lawsuit tells me that this community feels entitled to this school. It’s a public school. Funded with public funds. If they want a prestigious stem school, there are plenty private options that offer scholarships if needed. The entitlement is what gets me. Th idea of lawsuits to get their way. I am a non Asian minority. I am not interested in getting my gifted children to apply or go that particular school.
While I think that TJ admission should be expanded, I think admission has to be fair. The problem is that the Asians are being discriminated because the county is trying to hide the gross negligence it has done with minority elementary and middle schools. They have created a system where you have to rely on your own money to educate your children, because the public school is failing them. The Asian parents are probably feeling robed: they are supplementing their kids’ education and the county is basically saying: we will remove your goal. This actually could discourage a lot of kids who need intermediate goals in addition to their big goals.
